DX10 use wrong GPU

Featured Replies

Sorry if this problem is solved already.

I am using my laptop where is Geforce GT 630M and Intel HD 3000 cards.

FSX shows that geforce is active. But when i tick DX10 and restart fsx, there is HD 3000 active and i cant change that...

Any ideas why?

I reinstalled all new drivers and i used that patch and new shaders but no help

First post - Welcome to the club!!

Coupla things, JJL... Would you mind posting your system specs into your user profile, please, so we can see exactly what you have - then post both your DX9 and DX10 fsx.cfg's here, please? Also what are your fsx and operating system versions, too, please. :good:

Thanks,

pj

I have that problem too! I have an integrated laptop, and even though in Nividia drivers and other settings FSX is run with the Nvidia 310M, in the graphics menu in fsx the integrated graphics is the only graphics drop down option. It also means that there are two [display.XXX] entries in the .cfg, one of the 310M from when I was using dx9, and the integrated intel graphics from DX10. However, I have noticed that in NVI the Nvidia GPU is being used when fsx is running, so I would say that it is nothing to worry about, and unless it is obvious that the weaker card is being run in game, I would ignore it. Unless anyone does come up with some sort of fix.

Just to confirm, JJL - the pic below shows my 580 as being the gpu used by FSX:

Is this how you know which gpu is being used on your notebook?

I took a look at the configs, and they both show that the HD3000 is being used: it is the last [Display XXXXXX] in the cfg file.

You need to be able to disable the HD3000 in the BIOS. Do a Google search, or read the Notebook's manual to find out how to do that. You will also need to delete all of the entries in the cfgs, too, so fsx will add the correct one when FSX starts - after the notebook has started.

He can't igore the problem, Matgg - the HD3000 has no on-board memory of it's own, and so it uses system memory. The GT310M is a reasonably good card, and should run FSX.
