Been 8 hours trying to network 2 computers....

Featured Replies

Hi

I cannot seem to get this right. I have networked 2 computers, the server runs on Win7 and the client on XP. The server can only access shared documents from the client only, the client can only access "users" on the server. I cannot access the other drives where FSX is in order to use Plan G on the client. I have turned off the firewalls, gone to drive/properties. Do I have to add under "Group or user names" another user name which matches with my client computer in order to access these files ?

Make sure your workgroup is named the same on both computers.Computer\advance system setting\Computer name\ Change its name or workgroup. Win 7 and XP can be networked, but I never could get it to work correct. Good luck.

You will have to 'share' the directory you want to access from the other computer. Right click on the directory you want to share and follow the screens. Choose 'Everyone' to get rid of different users on both computers. You have to select if you want that directory access read-only or also writable from the other computer. After that you can connect to this share from the other computer. Choose 'Keep connected' to not having to connect each time.

Greetings,

Theo.
