July 9, 200421 yr I am having problems reinstalling FS9 on my computer. After inserting disc 2, after 42% installation, I get the error message that MSGAME6.CAB could not be extracted. (It annoyes me, that all you can do is to click OK, which uninstall everything again). There are no errors on the CD. At another occasion, MSGAME2.CAB on disc 1 was the problem. I have tried reseting the swap file, disable antivirus and firewall, emptied the TEMP folder, install right after boot-up with only system idle processes running etc. but nothing works.I would like to know if anyone could provide me with the complete FS9 folder tree, so that I may create them manually and manually extract all files to their right locations. I do know that there is a list of all the files on the CD's, but this is no use, as I need to know the folder structure after installation. Does there exist a similar list for the files after installation? Thanks in advance for any help. I hope you understand what I am looking for.Nico
July 9, 200421 yr Check this Microsoft kb article on the problem:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...063&Product=gmsHopefully you can fix it without needing new CDs. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
July 9, 200421 yr Thank you for your reply, but that is what I already tried, as described. Maybe I should have mentioned that I had already been on that site, and that my attempts to solve the problem so far, actually originates from that very site. Now I want to try something new and different - I would like to obtain the folder structure, the directory tree, of the FS9 installation AFTER copying all the files from the CD; that is, after installing the game.It would be very nice if somebody had the time and generousity to provide me with a copy of the directory tree of his FS9 installation, located in C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS9Or who knows a site where I can get such a directory tree or list of the folder structure. So that I can manually copy the files from the CD's to the right folder locations.Or tell me if there is any alternate way to install FS9.Once again thank you in advance.Nico
July 9, 200421 yr Hi, have you tried to copy ALL the files and directories on the four CDs to your harddrive? Then execute the installer from there. Works very well if the CDs are error-free.Regarding the folder tree - download the free WinRar trial version from http://www.winrar-rog.com/eindex.html and simply extract all *.cabs to your new FS directory. I have no idea though if this proves successful, I have the impression there are awfully many *.dlls and system files that need to be registered andd unpacked.
July 11, 200421 yr You may well have a faulty RAM stick. There's no point in manually installing MSFS (which you can't do unless you also place the relevant sections in the Registry as well, and that's not for the timid as you could mess up your entire computer if it goes wrong) and you will need to find the root cause of the problem and fix it anyway! You need Memtest from here:http://hcidesign.com/Run that and I bet you find you have a RAM problem.Hope this helpsAllcott
