Multi Samples Per Pixel

Featured Replies

I see no difference whether I have these lines in fsx.cfg or not. Nvidia Inspector set up according to document.

Dave

Take a read of Steve's testing here , Dave - when he was troubleshooting AA. He has done a great deal of digging, and does recommend those settings. That being said - AA in DX10 sucks, and so any little gain is worth it's weight in gold.

Not a trick question, and not trying to be smart or funny, but I need to know: - Can you tell me why you have these three characters:-

" //; " at the beginning of each line, please?

// ;MultiSamplesPerPixel=4

// ;MultiSampleQuality=8

Thanks,

pj

That's because they are commented out right now - and after a ton of looking I see many use // and I always used to use ; so I have both!

Cheers

Dave

Aaah! OK Dave. I just wondered if there was a possibility that you may have copy/pasted

" ;MultiSamplesPerPixel=4 "

from somewhere, and complete with the " ; " - perhaps not knowing that a semicolon was a "rem" equivalent, but did know that " // " was definitely a remarking character, and when you saw it didn't work (because of " ; " ) you simply added the " // " !! :lol:

No, don't need both, and I can see you're having fun, so -

All the Best,

pj

On a slightly different topic, was reading the post elsewhere about using Vsync in windowed mode (as I have the NGX and need to read the tutorial step by step) and I now have lost the fullscreen Vsync in DX10 - using 1/2Vsync setting in Inspector. I did download the latest Nvidia driver this am (306.97). COuld a driver break the Vsync?

Dave

Yes, for sure, Dave. I actually reverted back to 306.23 a couple of days ago, as I thought that the graphics were not as good as earlier versions - and now I might even try going to back to the 301.xx series. It's hard to pin something like this down - it's just a feeling that it's not quite right, but can't say what. Someone else brought this up too, but I didn't note it down.

1/2 Refresh Rate and Standard, with 30 set in fsx. Apply changes.

Thanks Paul, I'mgoing to revert back, I thought the same, there was just something not as good about the graphics although the frames seemed a bit better.

By the way, I'm in Stouffville, ON. (actually, Altona) Cheers!

Dave

Stouffville!!! Yikes! I could throw a Tim Horton's cup through your window from here!! :LMAO: Boy it's a small world.

My eldest daughter lives just down the road from you, too, 401 and Westney. Well, not quite.. You must be near the Ultra-Lite field, then - no? Son of a gun!

Listen - we'll talk later, as I have just too much on my plate to chat right now, Dave, but I'll catch up with you in the next day or so, OK?

:drinks:

I solved my no vsync problem. Spent about 6 hours on this yesterday and after having the "force v sync " line in my configuration, at some point I moved it to the (display) section, with the slightly different terminology (ie true instead of 1). At some point I moved it back under graphics and "poof " vsync was working again.

Don't know if that was the fix, but it is working now.

Once again, Life is Good! :lol:
