Traffic file. What have I done wrong?

Featured Replies

As I was experimenting with traffic, I renamed my Traffic030528.bgl and a couple of Traffic_PAI files so they would not load. When I was done I renamed them back. Now, wherever I go in the world, no traffic at all loads (I use the Traffic SDK to check). I feel very safe but very lonely.I have rechecked all my settings. Nothing has changed. Traffic slider is at 100%.To be sure, I even renamed the Traffic030528.ORIGINAL file. No difference. What am I missing? Thanks for your help.Phil

Provided that both traffic files are renamed as .bgl files, then they should load.....the actual naming of the file is not important.......if it's a .bgl, then FS9 will attempt to load it!As an example, I have three traffic bgl's: TRAFFIC.bgl (for my own custom traffic), TRAFFIC_FEDEX.bgl (for FEDEX flight plans as gathered), and TRAFFIC_PAI.bgl (for all default and new PAI traffic packages). I deleted the original Microsoft TRAFFIC as I didn't want their fictional stuff!Have you tried to decompile/recompile the two files with TTOOLS (brilliant freeware tool available here)? If not, then give that a try...and make sure that your traffic levels are not still set at 0% in the sim set-up screen!

I agree, if you renamed them to .bgl files there should be no problems at all. Did you accidently use a comma instead of a period? Did you leave an extra space in between some of the characters (not sure if this would cause a problem but worth checking)? Are the files in the C:FS2004SceneryWorldscenery file (or whatever your path may be to FS)? It has to be something small like this. Just in case something is weird you may decompile with TTools and recompile then everything should work fine. Let us know how it goes.Good Luck,Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

Thanks to you both for your response. The decompile/compile routine did the trick but I still don't understand what was wrong. To be sure, I fixed only one of the files and will keep trying to understand the problem using the other uncooperative file. If I find something, I'll share it.Thanks again.

Glad you got things up and running again. You must have been unlucky or something because I mess around with all of my traffic.bgl files quite often and have yet to run into any problems (knock on wood). I do not understand what happened to yours but I am happy that it is resolved. Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg
