SimFlyer GNS530 or Paying for updates?

Featured Replies

Hi all!About six weeks ago I bought SimFlyer's GNSv3. For those who don't know this product, it's an XML based Garmin 430/530 GPS gauge that's based on the default FS9 GPS engine but has some enhancements compared to the default GPS500, like a built in NAV/COM radio. I paid $10.99 (later the price was raised when the GNSv3 was sold via SimMarket), and while I was not too impressed with the improvements compared to the default GPS, I thought it was okay.Today I read an announcement on AVSIM's news page that there was a new version v4. Fine, let's try it! Headed over to SimFlyer.net and read that I was supposed to pay another $10 to get the update!!!Let's say it again: the v3 was released less than two months ago, I paid $10.99, and now the update costs $10.The update contains a new audio panel and transponder, but that's hardly rocket science. The total cost would now be $21 for me, while SimMarket customers would already have paid $26 if I'm not mistaken. Just to compare, for $29.95 you get RealityXP's fantastic GNS530 - which I bought for FS2002, got an upgrade for FS9, a major overhaul to version 2.0, and consecutive updates all for free.Okay, I hope I have not stated anything incorrect, I just wanted to let other people know ...VOlker :]

And your point is? ???Their marketing scheme fits their needs; time will tell if people will buy the new product (and yes, it IS new, a new version). You aren't REQUIRED to get the new, improved model. Think of the poor guy who bought FS2002 from some store who then finds out that there's a new version out ALREADY which he needs to buy, full price. Now there's a bite outta someone's backside. :D

Personally I find an update that costs 90% of the original price just six weeks after the first version was released (!) a rip off. I'm sure I won't but buy from SimFlyer.net again, but of course to each his own.Just my 2c (EUR),VOlker :]

Hi VolkerI only have one problem with SimMarket (and it sounds like I'm lucky). They won't sell me anything! They just tell me my VISA card won't clear and when I call the phone number on the card I'm told that neither SimMarket nor any one else even processed the card. Go figure.David

I can't complain about SimMarket. I once had problems with Lago because their online shop would not accept my credit card, and Lago's support directed me to SimMarket as an alternative seller of their addons which worked well for me.David, have you tried to contact SimMarket's customer support? URL is http://secure.simmarket.com/customerservice.phpVOlker :]

VolkerYes I did, but it was 2 or 3 months ago, so I may try again. I would like to get FSNavigator and they seem to be the only source for it. Thanks for your reply.David

That

Keith,my Name, as clearly stated in my signature image, is Volker Jansen. I live in Konz, Germany, street is Bussardstra

Volker, well said, Stand your ground, sound like poor customer service to accuse you of Piracy without asking for the facts first.

If I overlooked my data I appologize. I am not above doing that. Also it wouldnot be the first time PayPal was incorrect, thats why I let Simmarlet do all my sales.I still don't like being bashed and in an open forum is very un-cool but thats up to you. It does not hurt me any, just make you look bad really... kind of like an old complaining wash woman :) Joking but it is not cood dude.I will recheck and if I mad a mistake I will GIVE you the update for FREE. Now that is how I do business. :)Regards,Keith

>>I'm looking forward to your apology for accusing me of software >piracy without checking your data properly ...>So am I, Volker. And after reading your previous post I was about 2 minutes away from trying to order FSNavigator from them, again. Sheesh!David

What is the difference between the Simflyer release and Don Kuhn's freeware Garmin 530/430 and his GTX330 transponder? According to the published screen shots and descriptions, I don't see any, except the "Polarized" Glass (whatever that might be).Jozef http://pluizig.ath.cx/signature.jpg

If you can't tell I dont know what to say. Everything is the only answer I can give.>What is the difference between the Simflyer release and Don>Kuhn's freeware Garmin 530/430 and his GTX330>transponder? David, please don't mix up SimMarket and SimFlyer/Keith Giveans. I was one of the early GNSv3 buyers who ordered this addon directly from Keith via PayPal. Later on Keith decided to let SimMarket do the sales, I assume because processing the PayPal orders by hand was too time consuming.FSNavigator was developed by a different person and only happens to be sold by SimMarket as well.VOlker :]
