July 13, 200421 yr hi there,i have problem with my water twxtures in fs2004. i could not get them looking like the great reflections in many posts in this forum. they always look like the fs2002 ones and i`m not able to get the settings bozh to maximum (as you can see in the pictures in this thread). what can i do to get them working? i use a gforce4/titanium4200/128mb . is there something in the settings of my graphic card i have to change?pls, could anyone help my solving this problem?thx and regards, phil
July 13, 200421 yr Your graphic card should be able to show them.I think the fix is to change the language of your pc into US/UK english. The reason is that the coded numbers inside the flightsim is seperated by . (periods) whereas in European metric its commas. You change it under the Windows control panel --> regional & languge options (whatever that would be called on ur windows) and on the box that appears on its first page change from german (?) into english. It shouldnt change much else besides the fact that your windows date will be in english weekdays. If it doesnt work you can always change language back to German again.
July 13, 200421 yr The text on your options is all messed up, that's the problem! ;-)Carmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif
July 14, 200421 yr >hi there,>i`m not>able to get the settings bozh to maximum (as you can see in>the pictures in this thread).>>thx and regards,>>philHi,Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't think you can get both of those sliders to be all the way to maximum at the same time.If you turn the 'Water effects' slider to High Detail then the 'Terrain detail: Land and water' slider will always goes back to the middle setting. The same for the Land and water slider. If you slide it all the way to the right, then the Water effects slider goes back to the middle. This confounded people for a bit when FS2004 was first released. If you want water reflections then I think you should have the Water effects slider fully to the right(High Detail) and just leave the Land slider in the middle. ;)Hope that helps.Regards,Jim
July 14, 200421 yr Phil,I think I may need to correct myself. Can some water expert make sure I am giving the correct advice?I think you made need to install Water Enviroment textures. Such as the ones made by Bill and Lynn Lyons. I have these installed but my Water effects slider is in the middle, and I still get the water reflections. Because my Water effects slider is not fully to the right, I don't get the bump-mapping effect(the rolling and shimmering waves). I could be wrong about whether you need to install this or not. It's been so long I can't remember if it's required to get the reflections. But here are the filenames for Bill and Lynn Lyons water enviroment: fs9wat2a.zip or fs9watga3.zipWater expert advice still needed! ;)Regards,Jim
