ORBX Wales released.
Sadly IMHO ORBX England is not a good add-on for "low 'n' slow" VFR flyers. It gives a general "feeling" of what England should look like but for anyone who lives here it is pretty useless as most points of interest used for VFR navigation are missing. I'll also stick to my Horizon VFR photoscenery with Trees addon. That's what we use for PPL training in our flying school sim.

Tri-star coming soon
I really hope JustFlight get it right with this model. The TriStar was well ahead of it's time when it first flew and was loved by crew and passengers alike. Great handling qualities and built like an ox. I recently tried the JF 737-200 demo but sadly the flight dynamics were awful. And that ruined a simulation of another aircraft loved by pilots for its fine handling qualities. So JF how about getting Rob Young in to do the flight dynamics for the TriStar?! If he's not too busy working on the RealAir 172..(which he probably is;)

Aerosoft Robin DR400 FSX+Prepar3d RELEASED
If my memory serves me correctly there is a very nice freeware DR400 available for FS2004 and FSX. I used to fly it in FS2004. And the best thing is - the flight dynamics were by Rob Young from Real Air Simulations! Worth a search if you don't want to splash out on the payware version just yet.. I'm going to reinstall it tonight.

Aerosoft Robin DR400 FSX+Prepar3d RELEASED
The DR400 is still a popular touring aircraft here in the U.K. I used to have a share in one. Lovely to fly, very forgiving with good low speed handling characteristics and four "proper" seats. The only issue as you mentioned is the fact that it's constructed of wood which means it must be kept "indoors" - an expensive option here in the UK with the very limited hanger space at most airfields. Am quite tempted by this FSX version!

HDEv2 and DX10
Have also used them without problem in DX10 mode but as Zap says you MUST use the FSX version of the sky otherwise it will crash the sim. The sky textures are especially good and I use them instead of REX/FEX etc. Regards Adam

Rick Piper Chipmunk V3 in DX10
Think I'm still using version 3.2.1 will check from home this weekend. I see what you mean re aero's Keith. I haven't really tried much in the FSX Chippie. I tend to use the Real Air SF-260 for those I'll swap the air/aircraft cfg's around and see if it makes it any better for me. PS: Hope I didn't send u to sleep with my traffic reports

What is the best Piper PA-28 for FSX ?
Forum search! Lots of discussion previously. Personally I think Carenado have the best looking PA-28 but the handling and flight dynamics are unrealistic. They appear to use one airfile for all their models. http://www.justfligh...cher-ii-for-fsx The JustFlight PA-28 from their Flying Club X is a bit old in the tooth but IMO handles just like the real thing (within the confines of FSX). http://www.justfligh...ng-club-warrior So if "eye-candy" is your thing - get the Carenado. If you want an accurate flight model - get the JF version Hope this helps Adam

Rick Piper Chipmunk V3 in DX10
I've had the same problems so bought addonconverter x and all shows up fine now on the Chippie. It's one of my favourite addons for FSX and the first "real" aircraft I ever flew solo. I wouldn't recommend the updated airfile or aircraft.cfg. IMO the original is perfectly realistic. But seeing you're also an ex chippie flyer see what you think! Regards, Adam

Accufeel V2 - anyone got the turbulence working?
Nice clip. What was your set up for that ie just FSX weather? FSUIPC wind smoothing? Thanks Adam

Accufeel V2 - anyone got the turbulence working?
Tried posting twice at the a2a forums but my posts never show up for some reason so may as well ask here. I installed V2 of Accufeel on Saturday. Despite finding or generating the most severe turbulence it doesn't seem to have any effect on my aircraft. OpusFSX works fine and generates the correct bumping etc during flight through turbulent weather but despite turning Accufeel V2 on and off I can't see, hear or feel any difference even with the sliders on MAX. Also not sure why there are now two Accufeel programs in my start and uninstall menus. I wonder if this has something to do with it? Anyone else with the same issues? Anyone know of any fixes? Regards Adam

Using "How to" Inspector settings. In FSX do you untick?
Thanks for the info I'll have a twiddle with those settings when I'm home tomorrow night. At work right now zzz. Happy New Year! Adam

Using "How to" Inspector settings. In FSX do you untick?
HI Paul, Well with the options un-ticked in FSX I get bugger all filtering and it all looks horrible. If I tick AA and aniosotropic in the FSX GUI I get similar results as with Nvidia Inspector but with much better frame rates so I see no advantage using Inspector at all. The only thing I use it for now is to restrict framerates to 30fps rather than doing it in the FSX GUI. So I guess I'll stick to the FSX internal settings. Weird how Inspector works for some but not for others. Regards Adam

Using "How to" Inspector settings. In FSX do you untick?
Thought I'd have a twiddle in the latest Nvidia Inspector using the recommended settings in the excellent "how to" guide link (the dropbox jpg settings link). Should I have Filtering and Anti-aliasing ticked ON or OFF in the FSX settings-display page? Last time I switched them off in FSX and just made adjustments through Inspector FSX didn't register the changes made in Inspector so I ended up with no filtering OR AA! Currently running the stock FSX AA and Anisotropic settings which have been fine. Thanks Adam

Strange Cloud Anomoly
Just to confuse the issue I also had this tiling effect yesterday when flying EICK - EGKK. Was using OPusFSX and FEX textures. Hopefully if I try one Stephen's recommended textures above the problem won't reoccur. Will report back!

Making the jump from AS2012, should I?

Rebuilding new FSX.CFG. Do I need to reinstall shaders mod for DX10?
Thanks for the info Paul. All sorted now! Regards Adam

Accufeel2 Release Date?
Thanks for the info Scott. So if, for example we used FsWxLite (a super little free weather engine) the Accusim program would still work? All we need next is for you to include a slider to adjust "ground effect"...here's dreaming Looking forward to the release!

Rebuilding new FSX.CFG. Do I need to reinstall shaders mod for DX10?
Seasons greetings fellow DX10 users As I have a few days leave I thought I'd tweak and twiddle in FSX starting with a new FSX.cfg build. I guess it's not as simple as deleting the old cfg and restarting FSX? Presumably once I've ticked "DX10 preview" in FSX I need to reinstall Steve's shader mod? Or do I? Anyone know? Thanks Adam

Accufeel2 Release Date?
What a fantastic looking upgrade. And all for $5 for those of us with V1! Can't wait to try out the new turbulence settings. Still looking for the ultimate realism with regards to this. OpusFSX is close but this upgrade could well surpass it from watching the video above. So how will it deal with external weather generating programs? Does it take the METAR info to generate the turbulence? Would we have to turn any other turbulence generating programs OFF to get the full effect of Accusim (ie DHM in OpusFSX?). And what about FSUIPC wind smoothing? Should this be ON or OFF? Looking forward to the release! Adam

Should we upgrade to the new Nvidia driver?
I've just upgraded to a Gigabyte GTX650 card (ebuyer £118 - 2GB RAM and runs very cool) from my old GTX470 . Tried the 310.70 beta drivers but found the performance better with the 306.97's. I've locked the framerates at 30fps in Nvidia Inspector and DX10 performance is fantastic. Hardly a stutter in sight As an experiment I went back to try DX9 last night and the difference is very noticeable. Framerates were a little higher overall but there were more occasional stutters and I had those scary pauses switching between full screen and windowed mode - something which has totally disappeared using DX10.

FSUIPC SERVER DOWN?
Been trying to download FSUIPC from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html but it appears there is a problem with the server. Anyone else unable to download from there?
