How are Arianes 737-300/500?

Featured Replies

Are they worth the money, i dont really care about the outside, just the cockpit and the systems. Most important, does it have a working FMC? thanksadam

In my opinion, the highlight of the 300/500 series is the visual model. I don't think when I bought it it even came with a panel...but you'll have to check on that. If you're most interested in the panel and systems, I'd say save your $$...;-)Mike Tucson, AZ"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"--Mahatma Gandhi

Yeah an answer or personal review of this product would be nice. I have tried searching for reviews on the Ariane 737, no updated ones. I just left the Ariane site on the new features and it "looks" like one heck of a well rounded and detailed product. I was about to buy PMDG 737, but would like to get the Ariane 737 analog and NG versions, all those pages of new features look incredible. Weird thing is, I havent seen much on these Ariane products and they look top notch? So the pros and cons of Ariane vs Pmdg would be nice. As I cant afford both. "Well if i did not buy beer for 1 month I could, but heck im not crazy."And to other poster, they have full packages, panels, sounds models ect.. not just the aircraft. Why is it I have not viewed anything at all on this development, on a project as grand as other top developers? Scroll all the way through their news page and just drool, wheres the news been on this????And hows Maams improved DC-3 I donated for the 2002 version, and am trying to decide between that or the Clipper?Chris.

If you look through this forum for messages over the past week or so, you'll find lots to read about Ariane and comparisons to the PMDG product.By all accounts, PMDG wins 'hands down', especially if you're after realistic systems etc as opposed to just 'looks'.The few that have reported buying the Ariane NG VCe product seem to agree that it's not worth the money - the earlier Ariane 737's do not come with anything at all, other than just the basic plane...Hope this helps.Toni.

Ok, thanks for the info, I had in fact just signed on to the forums and mostly browse the avsim and flightsim news and files pages , which is why i am oblivious, I saw no news or reviews on the ariane 737, the screensshots and description on the ariane page make it appear in PMDGs class, but I will search for the comparisons you said are on the forums, thanks.Chris

Woahh after searching the forums and seeing the flame wars on this. "aka human passive agressive behavior." Maybee in a week or two when Ariane gets its update done somehow three non-biased reviewers could be chosen who are a known and they could be donated both the Ariane and PMDG for review, heck I would donate to paypal to pay a couple un-biased reviewers to do this as would some others from what i gather.Chris

The Ariane classic 737 Visual models are about the best you can get right now. If you decide to also get their panel (a panel does not come with the aircraft unless you get one of their packages which gives you a little bit of a discount, not much though) I highly suggest you don't. As of right now their isn't a FMC and the bitmaps for the panel are low quality. I guess I would say that their panel is mediocre at best. If you are looking for a good visual model then I would get it but if it is the panel, systems, FMC, etc you want then their stuff isn't for you. If you into those things I would suggest getting the Dreamfleet 737-400 package, HOWEVER it does not work in FS9 but if you use FS2k2 then you are all set.

It depends how much money you have and are willing to spend....1 plane costs you $Panel costs you $Sound set costs you $Extra liveries costs you $So if you don't care about the outside....don't bother to get into it :)Johnny"I'LL BE BACK"[div align=center]http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/josve/pmdg.jpg ][/div

Well its Sunday and I am ready to fly. So much positive feedback on the PMDG guess im going for it,(gee look at all the PMDG sigs :) ) I am just not ready to wait for Arianes finished product. Going to grab Maam's new DC-3 too, already had the 2002 donationware DC-3.Also I already own the FS2002 DF 737 was hoping it was going to be updated for FS9 but not ready to wait any longer.Though the one I really have been waiting for will be a bit longer CS's C-130.Thanks for the feedback, I should have done a search first, but even after reading 200+ posts on the subject, I still wasnt sure. The price on Arianes has recently been reduced a lot, and thier new update appears to adress many of the negatives.Arghh, need to get the CH new throttle quadrant too, and another monitor like 3 isnt enough, when does the madness end?"Note to self, close BOTH compression releases before taking off from your grandfathers field so you can clear the trees....ouch."
