  1. ummm, with all due respect, YOU have no idea what you are talking aboutAdam
  2. Failures always keep pilots on edge. when i am flying a c152 in real life on a x country or training flight, there's always that thought, what if something goes wrong? and i am constantly on the lookout for any indication of a problem. flight sim has come a long way since i started with FS2000, but there is one thing that hasnt changed, and that is the predictability. i know that in the manuals for the MD-11 and 744, and also for the LD767, it gives the proper techniques and procedures to do things. and when it comes to engines, the manuals say to follow procedure and be careful of a hot start and such. and also to moniter for fuel leaks. why? i know i will never have a fuel leak. all that it all pointless, because i know that no matter what i do, the engine will start fine, and unless i program a failure, i know that the flight will go off without a hitch and i can even skip or totally mess up some procedures and everything will still more than likely be finei know i know, PMDG has a random failures module, but the most you can set it too is 1 failure every 10 hours, and im sure that modern airliner failure rates are higher than that. thats the one thing that i like about the leonardo md-80, the engine can have a hot start, and if you give it too much power, the engine will get damaged, and also the failure rate is something like 1 in a 1000 hours. what i would like PMDG to do is to give the user the option to set the failure rate to a realistic probability, and also allow for hot starts, or compressor stalls, a fuel leak ect ect. and really make the pilots care after the aircraft and always be on the lookout for any failures, and to take the boring out of flying.adam
  3. so she is in fact a real person hahaadam
  4. Does anyone know if there is a EKCH in the works for FSX? I must say, the default FSX one isnt bad, but it could use some improvements. thanksadam
  5. thanks for the info. i dont plan on editing my own airports, just downloading. i was just wondering if you still download AFCADs for FSX or something else to get the proper AIadam
  6. I just downloaded a bunch of packages from WOAI and was wondering, how do i remove the default AI traffic? and also, i have been away from FS for a while and just got back into it with FSX, i know that afcad doesnt work with FSX, so what do you use instead? thanksadam
  7. IIRC they where supposed to release one with the 744, dont know what ever happend with thatadam
  8. i have had the md-11 for fsx for a while now and this has been bugging me since i got it, just never got around to asking. but does anyone else have the problem where at alot of airports, when selecting a pushing and turning either left or right, the minimum distance allowed is still to much and you end up getting pushed back to far? and this problem also occurs with the leveld 767 and an md-80 i have. so am i just doing something wrong, or is this some kind of limitation? thanksadam
  9. i have my system set up as per nick's topic. the numbers i gave are for the vc, in 2d frames are much higheradam
  10. the frames not that great. in fsx, with the Md-11, i get roughly 20 frames on TO, 35-45 in cruise, and 15-20 on approach. and in the md-80, i get like 15 on TO, 25 in cruise, and 15-20 on approach. the frame rates are very weird in the md-80, at times i will get mid teens in cruise, then like mid to high 20s, and on approach, i sometimes get better frames than in cruise. and also, in external view, i rarely see it go above 30, while in the md-11 i get 50s and 60s. once again, this is in FSX, i7 940 at 2.93, GTX260, 4gb of ramadam
  11. i can also highly recommend the leonardo md-80. i just got it today and wow, very impressed. it took me a while just to get the engines started haha. if u like highly complex airliners, then this is one to get. one thing though, the vc is very hard on the frames. i only get like 25 in cruise, and in the pmdg md-11 i get like 35. and i fly FSXadam
  12. i got it all fixed, when i uninstalled the program, it left the hifi folder in my Appdata folder. so i manually deleted it and reinstalled, and it all works nowadam
  13. how do i completely reset my computer? do i just pop in my windows cd and reinstall everything? thanksadam
  14. 5:32:25 PM:0864 - Loading Application Data Path5:32:25 PM:0880 - Application Data Path = C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Roaming\HiFi\ASA5:32:25 PM:0880 - Loading Application Executable Path5:32:25 PM:0880 - Application Executable Path = C:\Program Files (x86)\HiFi\ASA5:32:25 PM:0880 - ASA load commencing...5:32:25 PM:0880 - Verifying Active Sky Advanced Licensethats the log. and as for the message, it just says, ASA has stopped workingadam
  15. oops, my mistake, you are correct, its Nxxxx.0/W0xxxx.0adam
  16. Since my last flight, which i believe was the 27th, ASA wont start up. I click on the icon and it begins to start up, and within like 10 seconds a get a message saying that it encountered a problem and windows is closing it. i deleted it and reinstalled it, and no go. im running windows vista, and i dont have the beta ASA update yetadam
  17. in the md-11, it is Nxxxx/W0xxxx. so 40N/50W would be N4000/W05000adam
  18. so, i got the leveld 767 today. and i wanted to install a livery for it, which requires you to add a file to the download folder of the 767 aircraft folder. and when i opened up my FSX folder, i noticed that there is no aircraft folder. i have been away from fs for a while and just got back into it a week ago. so does FSX not have an aircraft folder? or is something wrong? thanksadam
  19. go to the systems manual, and in the adobe acrobat search bar, type in DFDR, and it should point you to the section that has it. it is on page 449. in the instruments and navigation alerts section, inst.40.1adam
  20. im running the md-11 on FSXadam
  21. on the ground, the DFDR needs the engines on and parking brake released to operate, so its normal to see the message before engine start. i got that pretty much straight from the manual. what really helps me, is if i have a question i go into the manual and use the search function in adobe acrobatadam
  22. hello. after a week of flying the great md-11, i got my first OOM the other day. i could here the sounds but the sim was frozen, and then i minimized the sim and saw the message that my system is OOM. and it happened last night when i was doing a long haul flight. those are the only 2 i have had, and i noticed that i started getting them after i got ASA, i dont know if thats the problem. my main concern is, i had the 64 bit version of vista and have 6gb of ram. i thought i would be fairly immune to the OOM isssue? is it normal that i am getting OOM with those specs?adam
  23. What i normally do is, when i construct my flight plan on the ground into the FMC, i also add the STAR for the arrival airport if there is one. And as for the landing runway, i wait until i get closer to the airport to figure out which runway to use. But when i enter the LAT REV page, and choose a runway, the FMC adds the runway and also enters the STAR again. so, i will have my normal flight plan, then after the STAR, and f-plan disco, the STAR once again, and then finally the runway. and i make sure to enter the runway from the lat rev page of the last waypoint, not the destination airport. so what i have to do it manually clear the second star. am i doing something wrong, or is this normal? thanks adam k
  24. i just bought a headset to use when i fly online. but i am having a bit of trouble setting it up so the flight environment sounds come out my speakers and ATC come out the headphones. i am using my mobo sound and have both rear and front panel jacks. any help would be appreciated, thanksadam k
  25. i noticed that also, on approach when the fps can dip to 15-20 its smoothadam k
