November 7, 201213 yr Have just purchased X Plane 10.. Only have enough disk space on a second hard drive (D:) So want to install it there.. Do I just change the source drive from C: to D: or should I create another folder on D: to accomodate it? Thanks John
November 7, 201213 yr X-Plane is very "drive friendly"... When installing, simply point the sim to install on the D: drive by clicking on the "Change Destination" button. The "Install Name" field represents the name of the directory the installer will create and install X-Plane into. If you want to install to D:\X-Plane, do the following: -Click on "Change Destination" and select the root of the D: drive. -Change the "Install Name" to show "X-Plane"... and continue! If you want to install to D:\Games\X-Plane, do the following: -Create the D:\Games directory, if it doesn't already exist. -Click on "Change Destination" and browse to the D:\Games directory. -Change the "Install Name" to show "X-Plane"... and continue! How you do it is entirely up to you. X-Plane will not perform any differently if it is in its own folder off the root of the disc, or if it's nestled into a subdirectory somewhere... For sheer organizational efficiency, it's best to usually keep it only one layer down, if at all. I have one drive for dedicated use with my games, and I keep all my sims on one drive, right in the root... D:\FSX, D:\X-Plane, etc. etc. Purely personal preference. (Drive Space Note: Remember that you don't need to install the entire globe of scenery - installing only the areas you fly in can save you space) -Greg

Unzip it and put the folder that contains files and some subfolders into the Aircraft/Heavy Metal folder in your X-Plane 10 directory. Karsten Schubert
