July 17, 200421 yr I attempted a long distance flight in the BAW Project Opensky 747 last week and I was appalled.I loaaded her up to MTOW in PAX and fuel and set off from London to Singapore. For starters I was able to easily soar straight on up to 41,000ft, with no speed rest to burn off weight it handled more like a fighter jet, light and sporty. When I used the time acceleration for a while and then did some fuel calculations I found that I had enough fuel on board to fly to at least KSFO via Japan, and probably back again! When I landed in Chanhia I had 52% fuel on board.Surely thats not right.... is it?Can anyone suggest a "good" flight model , cfg and air file for the default 744? I am presently waiting on PMDGs version to be relesased.Thanks.
July 17, 200421 yr Version of sim? Version of FDE? Did you bring this up @ the posky Forums for them to respond? July 17, 200421 yr Hi,It does sound as if maybe this BAW POSKY 747 has an dolder version of the FDE. Do you know what version of FDE it has? Search the Avsim library for the filename: 747-version-2004-8-5.zipThat's the lastest version of Flight Dynamics for the POSKY 747.Flight Dynamics for the default 747 filename: fd744ae.zipRegards,Jim
July 17, 200421 yr Try the modified files by Pedro Oliveira. These are intended for use with the default 747-400. Search for it in the library by his name or by the filename fd744ae.zip. I have used an older version by him called FD744.zip but it seems to be no longer available. I will definitely be checking out the newer version as I just downloaded it. I wouldn't bother looking any further as his name is well respected here and elsewhere as far as I can see. Backup the original files. You will notice a huge difference when you try it. Note that the default might be more suitable for AI use so you might try setting up two versions, one for flying and the other for AI.
July 18, 200421 yr Sorry, I made a slight mistake in my last message. The file FD744.zip is stored on my system but I did in fact already use the latest version fd744ae.zip. I had just downloaded it for a second time!
