July 19, 200421 yr I want to strongly agree with Uwe about not changing the default flight, don't change it for any reason! If you're tired of the 'Create A Flight' hassle and just want to click and fly, then do so from a saved flight and desktop shortcut.Several months ago I changed the default flight aircraft to an aircraft for which I was developing new flight dynamics. I spent a long time trying to figure out why this turbocharged aircraft would suddenly have a service ceiling of only about 14000 ft, when the day before it was over 30000 ft! At around 12000 ft the engine would get real quiet and the climb rate would drop below 300 FPM. Horsepower, manifold pressures, RPM and all engine and prop parameters were ok, and only after double and triple checking everything I could think of did it finally dawn on my dim little mind that 12000-14000 ft is where the default C-172 runs out of steam, and changing the default flight was the last change I made before the problem occurred.I changed the default flight back to that miserable Cessna, and once again had an aircraft capable of high altitude flight. What did I learn from this? NEVER change the default flight, and that you can avoid the 'Create A Flight' screen by using saved flights instead.
July 19, 200421 yr Author Hi all,Sorry to say but this error happens to me on a regular basis and is extremely easy to fix so there's no need to delete your FS9.cfg file. With painting I usually set a default flight with the aircraft I'm painting and when I'm done painting it, I move it or re-name it thus messing up my default flight and I get that error message. Here's all you have to do to fix it:1) Open up your Default Flight.flt file using Wordpad2) Scroll down to this section: "Plane.0" Aircraft=In the Aircraft= section, the name of the aircraft you no longer have or renamed should be there.3) Go to your Flight Sim Aircraft directory and open any aircraft.cfg file using Wordpad4) Open the aircraft.cfg file with wordpad5) Copy the name of the aircraft from this section of the Aircraft.cfg: title=6) Paste it in the Aircraft= section of your Default Flight.flt file, click save and voila it's fixed.Again, with painting, I have FS set to load my personal default flight because it loads faster.Just another point if view!Mikehttp://www.members.shaw.ca/madamo/ffpc.jpg
