installing AS2012 over ASE

i currently have ASE running and would like to upgrade it to AS2012. Can i simply run the downloaded upgrade exe file over the existing ASE or do I need to uninstall the ASE first? Will my existing options be preserved?

I had both installed here at one time. Make sure they are in separate install directories.

Chrome (Android)
  1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
  2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
  3. Adjust your preference.
Chrome (Desktop)
  1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
  2. Select Site settings.
  3. Find Notifications and adjust your preference.
