Sketchup Sandbox to FSX problem

Featured Replies

Greetings.Long story short I created a rock formation in Sketchup Sandbox, exported it to Model Converter X to create a Mdl file,a bgl file and a DDS file. I then created a file in Addon Scenery-"Garden of Gods" with subfolders Scenery(containing Mdl and bgl files) and Texture(containing DDS file). I opened FSX,added the file in settings and opened Object Placement Tool. The formation shows up but no texture, just black. I tried converting the DDS to a bitmap with DXTBitmap and got the same results. I notice some of my addon scenery has an XML file and some doesn't.Some addons have a Mdl file and some don't.What am I missing? Thanx in advance.

Well for starters, the mdl file xml file etc do nothing in fsx. fsx only looks at bgl files. If the bgl file calls a texture file fsx will look for that, first a dds format and if not found a bmp format.

After installing your scenery, if you open the bgl file (not the mdl) in MCX, does MCX show the correct texture?

scott,

Thanx for your quick response. I dropped the bgl file into MCX and found it was still "linked" to the jpeg I used for the texture. After pointing the bgl to the DDS everything shows up beautifully.Thank you very much!
