July 21, 200421 yr Folks,There are several entries in the FS9.cfg file that puzzle me and extensive search throughout this forum brings mixed and sometimes contradictory suggestions.First of all there is a TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT= line.I understand that the trade-off with this setting is, that setting it to too high of a value gives stutters, on the opposite side setting it too low gives large square blocks of ground scenery being loaded. I have it set at 100 and ironically see both - stutters and large blocks of scenery. Now you see why I'm puzzled.Secondly, under Display section there are several suggestions regarding following entries:RenderToTexture=0TriLinear=1PanelAsTexture=0What advantage, if any does it give to the fluidity of the sim? Finally my system specs:AMD Athlon 2800XPASUS A7N8X deluxe with 512MB Toshiba DDR-RAM memory 3200OS: WinXP Pro, SP1ATI Radeon 2800+ with the latest Catalyst driversCreative Sound Blaster 5.1 Sound CardPlanar 19' LCD monitorLogitech wireless keyboard and mouseCH Yoke USB and CH Pedals USBThank you very muchDom

July 22, 200421 yr DomMy own advice would be to leave the FS9.CFG file alone unless you absolutely MUST play with it and set all such parameters from within the sim as they were meant to be set. There are so many conflicting views, otherwise, that unless you are totally familiar with tweaking it, you could end up in a mess. One tip, though; if you can set your antialiasing using your video card software do so, and disable it within the sim. That might free up a few frames and increase your fluidity.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 22, 200421 yr Author Thank you Mark,I have done that a while ago and it helps a lot.I would generally agree with your statement, however we have seen several 'magic' tweaks within the FS9.cfg file that improve overall experience, yet performance a lot.Just to name one that comes to my mind right away: use_vector_objects line. That did the trick for me.Thank you for your input.Dom
July 22, 200421 yr DomThe effects of a lot of FS9.cfg settings can vary greatly from system to system. If you want to experiment Ken Salter's program FS9 Configurator can help a lot. It pulls up groups of keys by related function and saves a lot of searching. It also simplifies editing other cfg. files and has other functions as well. David
