July 21, 200421 yr Guys, I'm trying to locate a real-life flight plan/s for Wellington to Auckland and vice-versa.I've tried various iterations on Google, with no luck. The other day I flew NZWN to NZAA in 44mins, and whilst there was a southerly it didn't seem that influential. I tried to recreate the flight last night using waypoints that I deemed appropriate from my location looking out the window, but can't seem to get the flight down to that timeframe. I'm using the PMDG 737-700.If someone can supply a URL to this information I would be hugely grateful. Any other Air New Zealand flight plans would be a bonus. Many thanks,Tim
July 22, 200421 yr Hi Tim,I am certain that I once looked at a site that had real world NZ flight plans for ANZ but darned if a I can find it now. From listening to the NZWN tower I know that most NZAA bound traffic departs using a TY2 departure (rnw 34) or a PEGSA1 (from rnw 16) and then tracks pretty much direct to OHURA before setting up for either 05/23 at NZAA. They are usually under ATC at that point and the plan seems to go out the window. So its pretty much a direct line i.e. not via NP. I would have thought your 44mins though for that sector was pretty much spot on. Everytime I travel to NZAA (in the RW) it takes anything from 45 to 50 mins depending on traffic etc. Most times the approach is started at 5 NM rather than at either of the beacons (i.e. Whitford-HD or Westpoint-OT) which is the way I tend to do with FS9. The shorter approach usually shaves a few minutes of the sector time.If I find those RW plans I will PM you.Edit: I should add Tim, that (in VMC) I have been on B733's that have joined final for rnw23 at NZAA with much less than 5NM to go - often perhaps 2NM - so they are very short approaches. NZWN is a bit different. In IMC rny 16 is nearly always started at TY and 34 at WNS.
July 22, 200421 yr Gudday Mike.Love putting messages on a US site and get a response from someone a 15 minute drive away!I've tried emulating that flight, and the best I could do is 50 mins, but then I don't know the exact track or strength of following winds. I was starting to wonder if NZ was a bit longer in FS9!!!Sunday's flight turned for the 23 approach with about 3nm to go, gotta love that deceleration huh! Reverse thrust quickly seems redundant really....Anyway, if you can find the site with the plans I'd be hugely grateful. My e-mail address is tmcgee@paradise...(you'll know the rest being a NZ'er). Don't know what "PM" means - sorry.Happy to chat at anytime about related issues should you feel the need, though clearly you don't have much to learn from me!AB's by 5 on Saturday. I think a lot of people are under-estimating the Boks...Cheers
July 22, 200421 yr Gidday TimPM is a personal message rather than a public forum message. So you reckon the boys are only good enough for 5 on Saturday. Did you see the way they completely cleaned up the Wallabies last Saturday! Whilst the score board didn't show it - the AB's probably spent over 80% of the time in the Wallabies half and more than half of that in the Wallabies 22. A few punches to keep them awake and it was all on. So, more than 5 I hope. Certainly we are looking forward to the game.I will hunt for those flight plans. It was a while ago that I saw them and - as I said - ATC pretty much makes them redundant anyway - but if you track direct TY to a 2/3NM final you are probably immitating the real world. I tell you who might know. Look in the PMDG forum and check out Brad's Geezer Guide. He has a link to his home page at http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~speedy/ which has an email link for him. I think he fly's for Pacific Blue (i.e. BlueBird) so he may have access to what your looking for. He also has SID/STARS for WLG and CHC for the PMDG737 on his site.OK - go the AB's and look forward to chatting again.
July 22, 200421 yr Mike, that's my point. We spent so much time entrenched on their try line and only won by...what was it....7....6?Sounds like Mr Collins is ready to lay a few into them. I say Go Jerry!I'll check out the site - cheers.
July 22, 200421 yr Tim,Also have a look at www.aip.net.nz , this is the actual routes for all doemestic and international routes departing and arriving form NZ airspace. CheersIan from CHCH :D
July 23, 200421 yr Hi guysI`m another Lower Hutt simmer - If anyone`s up for some multi action drop me a pmCheersRottenlungs in Da Hutt
July 23, 200421 yr I fly that route regularly, altho I dont use real life FP's. Usually either IFR, VOR to VOR or VFR. It's hard to get too lost in New Zealand! I'm gradually building a library of ZK-registered repaints for kiwi flyers. Last one was the ME-108 regularly seen at airshows, before that, Goose ZK-DFC in Sea Bee Air colours. Next one will probably be the Ardmore based Hunter when I find time & then maybe an SI reg Chipmunk... I can recommend Robin Corns photoreal scenery for Kiwis. Shame noones done the whole country! Anyways, gotta go - there's new Waitakere scenery that really needs a heli run over it :)LonelyplanetXO
July 23, 200421 yr Howdy LonelyplanetXO,Don't forget: Tasman Empire Airways (TEAL) S.30 flying boat ZK-AMC 'Awarua' by Jens B. Kristensen; and ZK-MET, James Eden and Geof Applegate's Beechcraft B33 Debonair (works just as well in 2K4).
