USA Landclass for 2002?

Featured Replies

Hi - I just did a search hoping to find a landclass replacement for the continental US. I found bits and pieces, but not the whole thing. Can anyone recommend a spot where I might find something like this, either payware or freeware? (Freeware preferred, I don't have much income right now.)Also, does updating landclass data slow the sim down at all? Thanks,Andrew

So let us in on what you found... a freeware version?

You found the answer to question #1...As for question #2, Landclass data doesn't hit fps, but it may hit texture clarity, depending on the RAM in your video card. Updates done with my program, Landclass Assistant, or Russ Dirk's program, EZLandclass, normally don't cause any performance problems. That's because both of our programs exploit a feature in FS2002/FS2004 that allows you to do spot updates of landclass, without having to rewrite the "whole".-John

"Landclass data doesn't hit fps, but it may hit texture clarity, depending on the RAM in your video card."Thanks, that's good news. I fly a lot in relatively low visibility - without knowing how much beyond visual range is being calculated, it certainly cuts down on some of the high-end setting."Updates done with my program, Landclass Assistant, or Russ Dirk's program, EZLandclass, normally don't cause any performance problems." I'll definitely look that up, thanks again John!Andrew
