November 22, 201213 yr I have begin to repaint the default CRJ 700! I am new to this and I bought FS Repaint v2. I also use GIMP that I have used for other thigs earlier. Then you work with repainting the plane you can undo things then you are not happy but what do you do then you have saved and closed your work and later start your program again and want to undo things you did earlier? I noticed it was not possible to undo the paintings I did earlier and it was easier for me to delete my project and start it all over from scratch again! How do you do next time you continue your work and want to redo things? I also noticed it is difficult to make a line from one end of the fuselage to the other then the fuselage is in two pieces! Then I look on the plane the line don't end up together on the model! In the front of the plane the line is little to high compare of the line in the back! How do you do correct this? I also noticed it is hard to see what part is waht on the plane then you have the working image uploded. There are many parts that you have no idea there is the plane they are! I use to fill them with color to see there they are on the plane then looking at it in FS Repaint model window! Thanks!
November 22, 201213 yr Hi Alfhak712, Here are a couple tips.. First always copy and paste a safety copy of the entire texture folder for the plane you are painting. That way if there is a mistake you can restore the paint. You asked..... "I also noticed it is difficult to make a line from one end of the fuselage to the other then the fuselage is in two pieces! Then I look on the plane the line don't end up together on the model! In the front of the plane the line is little to high compare of the line in the back! How do you do correct this?" This depends on how you do it. Using individual sheets is challenging but can be done by writing down vertical and horizontal x & y coordinates of your lines or looking for clear "landmarks" on differing sheets. This is best done using DXTbmp (free program) to open the texture sheets individually and send to Gimp or another paint program and not using FSPainter. If you learn to paint this way you will have a lot more flexibility. I do not know if Gimp has the ruler or scales to do this. At minimum, Corel Paint Shop Pro which is not too expensive and quite capable. As far as knowing "what parts are what.." ah yes..... well sadly this will only come with more practice.. The method you are using works.. I used to put a small dot on parts or a letter like "R" to tell orientation for text and vertical orientation. Then erase or paint over it once it served it's purpose.... Also check around some of the older posts in the forum. I have seen a couple of basic instruction threads using DXTbmp that will make this come a lot easier. Also, stick with it.... a lot of painters get frustrated and bag it early in the learning process. It took me a while but I am glad I stuck it out.
