How to start an IVAO flight with FS9,REX,UTE,GEPRO,FSGlobal2010,ASE...question

Featured Replies

Hello, I've just installed FS9.

I've also installed FSGlobal2010,REX, UTE, GPE, ASE...

I would like to fly on line IAVO with real weather..

I undestood the best way is to use ASE with REX textures...

Wich settings should I use for this purpose?

Wich is the right way to start a flight.....???????????????

I've been told (from a NON IVAO flyer) I should:

Step 1. Start REX2004. Click the Weather tab. Click the side red VIEW WEATHER tab to instantly see current weather cloud conditions around the globe, viewable by country. Decide where you will be flying.

Step 1a. If you are just flying locally (within a 120 mile radius), enter the airport code where you will be flying. REX2004 will load the latest METAR data onscreen. Click the lower green WX TEXTURES button to install the textures directly into your FS9 folder. Once it finishes, close the REX2004 completely. Do not leave it running.

Step 1b. Alternately, if you are going to create/use a flight plan, then click the lower red FLIGHT PLAN button. REX2004 offers a lot of flight plan options at this point. You can load other flt plans from REX, FS9 or other sources, ...or just create a new one from scratch entering the information in the windows provided. You will need to answer each window if creating using the REX interface on this page. (under the alternate airport, you can cheat by entering the destination airport again) At this point REX will display your flight plan.

Click the lower green WX TEXTURES button to install the selected textures into your FS9 folder.

Once it finishes, close the REX2004 completely. Do not leave it running.

Step 2. Start the ASE software. Be sure under the OPTIONS tab that Automatic Updates is selected. You may also be able to use the VATSIM Online Weather with the IVAO network... not sure.

Step 2a. Click the BRIEFING tab. Click the side pink CHANGE FLIGHTPLAN button. Click the purple IMPORT button. Locate your desired flight plan and load it. Click the PROCESS button. Click Cancel when ask if you want to install a Graphics Snapshot for your route. ASE will load the current weather report for your selected flight plan.

Step 3. IMPORTANT OPTION: If you desire to install the beautiful Ground-Environment Pro textures for your flight, then click the bright green Install GE Pro Textures button on the right side. This will inject custom ground textures from your GEP to correctly match the weather conditions in FS9 using your selected REX textures and ASE weather data.

You will next be presented with the following questions from the GEP interface which by now is open and running...

Question: Do you want to install GEP textures obtained from ActiveSky?

Answer: Select YES.

GEP will install ground textures to perfectly match your ASE/REX weather.

Question: Do you want GEP to start FS2004 now?

Answer: NOOOOO!!!! Do not start FS9 from within GEP!!!

Your FS9 sky and ground environment is now correctly configured for the best realism effect.

Step 4. Start FS9 from within the ASE interface using the blue Start FS button located on the top right side.

VERY IMPORTANT>>> DO NOT CLOSE ASE. Minimize the software using the minimize option (top right) emblem with downward arrow only.

IS this the way??? <_<

Thanx
