Camera in Demonstration Mode

Featured Replies

Is the camera supposed to work in the demo? I read the user guide but mine still doesnt do anything. For me the choice between OpusFSX or EZCA will come down to how realistic the camera effects are since I already have a weather engine (AS2012). I tried in both windowed and full screen mode. The weather on the ground seemed pretty accurate to me but no different from what AS2012 displayed so its really hard to judge just taxiing around.

Hi Peter

The cameras do work in demo mode. You need to use the EZCA utility to tidy up the files and then just disable EZCA from running. There are some 737 example cameras set up already but you can create your own camera view and edit the DHM effects. Either set the view as a default view or assign a key to it. When you subsequently display the view (by default or using a key) you will see the turbulence effects. There are some examples of who to create a view in our Live Camera guide.

Our weather engine has many advantages over others including,

No more annoying screen flicker as METARs are 'slowly' loaded into the sim.

No more unrealistic globalized weather from horizon to horizon.

No more inconsistencies with distant ATC and ATIS reports.

No more METAR voids or unrealistic METAR data morphing.

Live Weather allows you to see the changing weather patterns en route as you fly.

Live Weather creates very realistic cloud and visibility layering.

If you upgrade to the beta you can try out winds and temps aloft.

I have to say while I do like the live camera I think the transition to another view could be a little smoother and more natural. I have tried different settings but it seems to be kind of abrupt no matter what I do. Your weather engine is excellent and once the winds aloft are perfected I will purchase your product. Good work!

Hi Peter

Winds aloft have already been perfected now and we are preparing the press release. We are planning on releasing the current beta version 2.60.7 probably at the weekend. True upper winds and temperatures, world wide, and long range weather reports for your destination and up to four alternates or sites of interest, the perfect ATIS from over 300 miles away.

Thanks Peter. The transition speeds vary between aircraft sims and it also can make a difference whether you are in full screen or windowed mode. We are going to do some more work enhancing Live Camera soon. We have now pretty much finished winds and temps aloft, check out the latest beta posted today.

Cheryl

P.S. I don't know what demo version you are using but there were improvements made to the transition speed settings. I would give beta 2.60.7 a go, you will have to uninstall first then reinstall the beta.

I just purchased and downloaded 2.60.8 and have to say I am impressed with the difference from As2012 not only in terms of depiction but performance. The live camera was really easy to set up on all my aircraft and I figured out how to get the transition speed just the way I like it. Why did I decide to go for it? The fact that you offered a demo that let me fully explore the features before purchasing. That along with the great support I see here on the forums made my decision easy. I look forward to continued improvements as your product continues to mature. Thanks again Cheryl!
