July 25, 200421 yr Hi all,I still have FS98 - just wiped the dust off after buying a new joystick since MS stopped supporting their own products when they released Windows 2000!Anyway, is their any point in continuing with it if I want to fly with virtual airlines? I couldn't find the right version of SquawkBox for a start. If I can still use it, what is the add-on software suite that I need (minimum).ThanksSangoma
July 25, 200421 yr It's up to you. Most (if not all) virtual airlines don't care what you use. Keep in mind, though, that if you do want to use Squawkbox, the latest version requires at least FS2002. Also, FS98's database of airports aren't as comprehensive as FS2004, so some of the destinations for the VA may not exist for FS98.As far as the software suite, I'd at least check the library to see whether there are any add-on aircraft (freeeware or payware) that are for FS98.
July 25, 200421 yr Thanks.I guess what I'm really struggling with is to find the necessary files. I searched AVSIM for the old files that I used to use (in the Flight Simulator 98 section) but that is completely empty (or I got my search wrong).Otherwise, where do I go for the likes of the old Squawkbox and weather generators?
July 26, 200421 yr Author Try Flightsim.com They have loads and loads of FS98 files. Go to main menu, and click on must have files. The Avsim library is great, superior in every way to all others, but it didn't really start taking off until FS2000 timeframe.
