July 26, 200421 yr Ok - so I bought 2004, installed it, and am experiencing a few major bugs.First, if I try change the time to Day it crashes after loading for a few seconds. I tried disabling "render to texture" to no avail.Second, my panels are simply frozen - they update when I change views, but are never in motion.I'm sorry if these issues have been brought up lots, or beaten to death; I did searches (and will continue to) and found related items but nothing exactly like what's going on with my system, which is:Win 98SE, PIII 1.2, Diamond Viper 770 Ultra 32, 384 ram...$10 is a good price.. if I can get it to work! Thanks,Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g

What driver are u using? Here is an old link to a decent TnT2 driver:http://members.driverguide.com/driver/deta...&driverid=12267
July 26, 200421 yr Author Hi Paul - I'm not sure what driver I've got going... the PC is shut down now so I'll check tomorrow.However, I'm a little surprised - just for laughs, I cranked up the scenery quite a bit - 800x600, but 32-bit - autogen medium... it ran pretty smooth!Of course, this may be because it wasn't updating the gauges ;) which are still frozen - I got temporary relief after updating to the newest DirectX.I found a new problem though - no ATC.... cripes.Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
July 26, 200421 yr You also might have some incompatibility with DirectX. Did you install the latest version while installing FS9? If so, you should check to make sure your card is happy with that versioin of DirectX.It's easy to check... (from my memory of 98SE) click on Start>Run> type "dxdiag">wait for the Diagnostic Tool to stabilze, then click on "Display". On that page is a section titled "DirectX Features".Disable any of the 3 tabs you see in that section and you will then disable the card's 3D acceleration capabilities. This will put your system into software emulation mode. It may be slow and choppy, FPS won't be good, but if the sim functions in software emulation mode without crashing then chances are your card and DirectX aren't happy with each other. You may be able to resolve the problem with a driver update.Good luck,GregEdit: Well, I posted just a minute after you Andrew. Might still be a good idea to check 3D acceleration.
July 26, 200421 yr Author AHA!Good call, Greg!My card apparently doesn't support "version 9.x" of DirectX!Well, I was thinking about getting one anyway... on the cheap...Thanks,Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
