Default B738 fuel comsumption

Featured Replies

Hi, am new here :D

I noticed an issue with the default B738. The fuel consumption is quite high and can go almost 3 times more than the estimated fuel usage listed on the flight plan. Don't have a similar problem with the default B744 though.

Any solutions?

Welcome to Avsim. You can alter some rough settings on the fuel when browsing to SimObjects\Airplanes\B737_800 and looking into the aircraft.cfg. There's a section [GeneralEngineData] which may offer some parameters to play with. Also, there's [TurbineEngineData].

Make a backup first and find a description of the parameters here. http://msdn.microsof...y/cc526949.aspx But, is the plane really that far off? Are you checking the fuel flow in cruise and with the correct units being displayed?

I recall some freeware package offering a lot of tweaks and improvements for the default 737. Perhaps it even includes the flight model, which would save you some time on trying to edit the fuel flow.

I think it's this one, but I've never tried it. http://simviation.co...pit V2 &x=0&y=0 You can download it for free, you don't need to sign up there. Just in case.
