New Flanker from Bear Studios!

Featured Replies

Finally it looks like we may be getting a realistic Flanker and not just for the one simulator, it will be officially fully compatible with Prepar3D, Flight Simulator 2004 and Flight Simulator X!

Bear Studios will be releasing a J-11B Flanker - the Chinese made version of the Sukhoi Su-27. It will incorporate a highly detailed VC, realistic flight dynamics, in-depth systems (including combat capability) and detailed model.

There will also be a 2 seat trainer version included in addition to the singe seat fighter:

It promises to be a realistic in-depth simulation of the real aircraft, based on official published papers related to Engine, Hydraulics, Avionics, Radar, Flight Control and Navigation systems.

From the looks of it, it may be comparable to and hopefully just as good as the Vertical Reality Simulations F/A18-E!

The real J-11 Flanker B+ is made by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation in China. Not entirely sure Sukhoi is thrilled about the whole thing. However details of intellectual property rights have not been disclosed and a lot about the situation remains unclear.

China obtained a license agreement in the 90s to build 200 Sukhoi Su-27SKs using Russian supplied kits. Under that agreement, these aircraft would be outfitted with Russian avionics, radars and engines. Only 95 of the original aircraft were delivered and Russia may have cancelled or changed the arrangement after it discovered that China had reverse-engineered the technology and was developing its own version - the J-11B.

A lot remains unclear and details have not been released, fuelling speculation about a possible "secret" contract/arrangement between the two countries.
