FS9 crashes during startup -- Ever happen to you?

Featured Replies

Typical story.Worked fine last night. Installed Flight One Softwares "Roads" today. I get to the main screen , select a flight, starts to load it up, and then crashes to Windows XP desktop, with an error in FS9.exeAny way to fix this? I don't even think this ROADS software has an uninstall feature (one reason why I like Xplane, these issues rarely rarely occur) sigh.........

Might want to make certain that you have Fastwrites disabled in the Video card settings. My 8IXNP doesn't like them at all and does this same sort of thing. There appears to be no performance gain with Fastwrites enabled and it appears to create instability in some systems. I can testify that the 8IXNP board is one of them.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpghttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Sen_captain.jpg

Ill checkJust put in a 6800GT last night, and flew for 4 hrs with no issuesI don't think NVidia drivers enable Fastwrites by default, but Ill try to find out where that is at

Faulting application fs9.exe, version 9.0.0.30612, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.Is the error I get. So no idea (shrug)

Also, check to make sure "render to texture" is enabled. I have the same problem with certain addons. No render to texture and it crashes immediately. Also, I see you're a "West Michigan CFI." Anywhere near the UP?

I was missing some texture files from the "USA ROads" programI put them in the texture dir, runs fine now.THanks
