Mastering aircraft - how many at a time?

Featured Replies

I'm enjoying flight simming a lot, especially with complex airliners designed for maximum realism. I see a problem coming soon for me, however, in that there are several fantastic complex airplanes to be released in the next year....and I have an interest in all of them. Unfortunately, there's no way I can devote the time or even maintain the knowledge of each, meaning I won't really master any of them. By the way, when I say master, I mean experiencing and retaining 80+% of what the product offers the consumer.

So, assuming your an NGX flyer, (as many of us are), what do you buy without losing your current NGX skill level: FS Labs A320, the Majestic Q400, PMDG 777, the Aerosoft (DA) CRJ 700-900, and there may be more. Each promise to be extensive system complete simulations to put us in flight simming heaven. The 777 would be the easiest transition since it's a Boeing. Add an Airbus, and things start to go nutty learning and switching between different systems. Hop into the Dash and now you're looking at more systems to learn with a different FMC. So I'm just curious, how many addons do you try to balance in your simming world? One, two, three or more?

A dozen or so. FMC's are all similar. MCU's are similar. Learn Boeing MD and Airbus and their all similiar. Give MTOW, Flap settings and V speeds and Ill fly it. :)
