  1. I'm not blaming the developer for this, as I think it's my inexperience with this type of plane. I receive a fuel pressure warning on occasion and don't know why (the fuel pumps are on). Anybody else have this and know what triggers it?
  2. Thanks, Bob, I missed that.
  3. WH, you're welcome. I think Carenado should release a document that illustrates what they modeled, and to what switches they modeled functions to. I've found many "dummy" switches that click, but don't actually do anything.
  4. By the EXT-Lights panel is an INT-Lights with two knobs, Panel and Inst. The Panel knob must be rotated to read "Knob light panel (100)". You have to hold your mouse over it for the pop-up message to appear. I don't think the Inst. knob does anything, even though it has an on/off setting.
  5. Ed, thanks for your post and link to start-up video.
  6. I'm a long-time flight simmer, but I'm finding I need a tutorial not knowing what is modeled and what isn't. For example, on the abbreviated checklist (before starting engines), you're to check the stall warning. I searched for a lengthy time and couldn't figure that out, so it's not modeled I guess? There's also a series of fuel pump checks to go through, but the engines start fine without ever touching the fuel pumps. I admit I know little about this type of aircraft, but a written tutorial by Carenado would help getting familiar with this bird.
  7. Of the addons you described, I would look at EZdok as the problem if you're using Windows 10. EZdok is an excellent program overall, but there have been numerous reports of problems with it when running on Win 10 in conjunction with anti-virus programs. Windows Defender must have exclusions set as explained in the main support forum; Norton and other virus checkers are even more troublesome in allowing EZdok to work. If you're not using Win 10, then ignore this post. Hope you get it all figured out.
  8. I have Anisotropic filtering set in the graphics tab.
  9. I have the following specs: 6700k CPU, nVidia 970, 16Gb Ram and FSX on SSD. I had the exact same issue with my new computer and solved it with a graphics card setting. First, as Jim said, NO tweaks to the fsx.cfg, because Skylake systems don't benefit from them. What fixed the blurries for me was going into nVidia Inspector and adjusting two settings under "Texture Filtering". Anisotropic filtering mode to OFF; and Anisotropic filtering to 16x. That took me from very blurry to crystal clear.
  10. Hey, I've got it fixed! It turned out to be so simple, yet I missed it. I just had to go the the nVidia control panel and turn Anisotropic Filtering to 16x. I noticed a couple of my payware airports had fuzzy runways which was unusual. Went through my nVidia settings and realized I had overlooked one, and this is one you can't overlook. Thanks Chris for your input, and now I can enjoy my 4X purchase.
  11. Well, I'm a bit stumped on this one. The scenery folder lists numerous .bgl files and nothing else. Where should I find the LOD you refer to? Also, I have FSX and MSE 4X installed on a 1 Tb SSD. That shouldn't be a conflict with both on the same drive, correct?
  12. Sorry, I should have referred to my previous post. The Q9300 was what I previously had. I now have a new Skylake computer with a 6700k CPU, GTX 970 card and two SSD's. FSX runs great in general. I had my texture max load at 4096, then dropped it to 2048. No change with that tweak either.
  13. I'm not sure what this means, disabling last LOD. What I have done is changed my LOD from 4.5 to 8.0, applied the FFTF tweak, limited frame rate to 30 and deactivated other sceneries. None of these changes reduced the blurries in Florida 4X. I can run all Orbx scenery (which includes photoscenery) with great clarity, but for whatever reason Megascenery doesn't portray properly. My old Q9300 computer actually performed better with Illinois 2.0. Oh well, it's weird examples like mine that keep support forums busy.
  14. I've used Florida 4X for the past couple of days, and I'm just not impressed. I can only appreciate the scenery when looking immediately down, within a mile from my airplane. Anything further out is extremely blurry to where I suffer eye strain. My system (new Skylake setup) runs Orbx perfectly, but it can't handle this for whatever reason. My settings are as Megascenery recommends. To settle the earlier confusion, it is 46Gb in size, not 64Gb. I'm looking for something like what "fscottee" posted above, those images are super gorgeous.
  15. Please tell us what you have cookin! If you have something to release to flight simmers, or expect to in the coming months, don't keep it quiet for long. If you have night lighting in addition to good looking scenery, then I'm a customer in waiting.
  16. I'm not a computer guy, so cloning and dual boots, etc... are out of my ability range at the moment. I will say I have installed FSX and all addons onto a 1 TB SSD, and it was the best decision I've made for this hobby. Everything loads so quick, and even the PMDG NGX flies smooth as butter. I guess the Skylake CPU helps with that too.
  17. David, thanks for your reply. Your 777 looks outstanding, and after looking at your computer specs I know why. Your system is absolutely top notch, and mine is a few steps below. I may purchase one and see how I get along, but may have to revert back to 1080p for performance reasons.
  18. What Oscar requested now pertains to my situation as well. Anyone go from 1080p to 1440p? Was it worth it, or was there too much impact on fps?
  19. Thanks, jja. OLED is out of my price range, so I'll keep hunting. I've heard some good things about Samsung's 27" curved display...reviews are the backlight bleed is barely noticeable.
  20. I've had a 24" glossy monitor for the past seven years, and it's been horrible for night flying. I'm going matte this time, and would appreciate any suggestions on what's most important in choosing a monitor for night flying purposes. All I know at present is backlight bleed is bad, and a good contrast ratio is necessary. Any help would be much appreciated.
  21. Thanks for the reply, Gregg. Your system is much better than mine, but I plan on upgrading soon.
  22. Can someone convince me it's performance is MUCH superior to the old version? If so, I'll buy it, otherwise I'm thinking Orbx may do this one day.
  23. Make sure your computer is fairly current for the GTN unit. My computer is 6 years old and the RXP has no fps impact, but the GTN will take away 5 fps on an older system.
  24. I would not rule out A2A. It was designed for both entry level and experienced simmers. For example, you can turn off the maintenance features, auto-start through the shift-3 window, then go full throttle and off you go. It's that simple, if that's what you're looking for. You will also enjoy the great modeling, flight dynamics, sounds and general overall goodness that many other developers haven't yet matched. A2A can be used by anyone, at whatever complexity they choose.
  25. Dave, thanks for your input. I would like to review that sticky thread you speak of, but pcaviatorforums.com is a dead site. Is there another link I could try?
