Dual NAV use

Featured Replies

Hi,on FS2004 default aircraft I can use the two VORs independently, that is I can select a course on VOR1 and another one on VOR2 (tuned on two different frequencies), which is quite normal. However, on add-on aircraft, such as Super King Air or PMDG 737 (just to make two examples) this is not possible: selecting a course on NAV2 will automatically select the same course on NAV1 and vice-versa, which is not as it is supposed to work. Has anyone else experienced this issue ?Regards

Hi, on the PMDG 737 this is definitely not the case, you can tune in two different frequencies.

Check the airplane's aircraft.cfg for this section:{Radios}<--- should be square brackets in the .cfg file Audio.1=1 Com.1=1, 1 Com.2=1, 1 Nav.1=1, 1, 1 Nav.2=1, 1, 0 Adf.1=1 Transponder.1=1 Marker.1=1 Description of what the numbers mean: Type=available, standby frequency, has glide slopeMake sure NAV 2 is configured as "available". Cheers,Greg

I cant help ya the the PMDG. But I have a few comments in regards to the VOR I and II. THe comment relates to the defualt Super King Air 350 and the Cessna (I cant remember the exact one, but its the one suggested to use for Insturment trianing, the one with the huge Insturment pannel that reduces your view thus forcing you to use the Insturments). The point I am trying to make is the seperate VOR guages in the Cessna, and the RMI in the King Air 350, (I hope this is easy to understand). The point is the way you have to inturpet the combo guage in the King Air 350. I finally have figured out the Combo guage, ie... the CDI and the ADF (I hope I am saying this correct). The cessna that I have attempted to refrence has a guage for the VOR I and a guage for the VOR II frequences as related to the Nav I and II. It is a whole lot easyer to use a the lessons are based from the same (or another Cessna, cant remember, at work and cant fire up the Sim as the disk is a home). I wish there were Insturment lessons based on the King Air 350. Perhaps there is a cross reference guide that helps you along with the way to use the VOR I and II and the guages you are to use.In other words it would be nice to go from plane to plane, (IE..in the seat using the guages) and have a guide or some sort of a reference to do exactly what the post here is addressing. But all I can do know is jump in the plane and "hunt and peck my way" till I get a guage to start moving in relation to one of the VOR's. I am sure there is a lesson or some kind of guide to this. If so and someone knows I would like to has a link or a place to go and find it.Also, I am under the thought process that GPS is the new way for insturment procedures. I was also told that the FAA will start removing VOR stations. I am not saying all of them at once but it (FAA) will start gradually removing them little by little.Any help is appreciated.Thanks.Mark.
