August 1, 200421 yr Yesterday I installed updated software for GF hardware which all works great. But in a related or unrelated vein, I have no idea at all, my IE 6.0 now will not open up and display when I double click on it. Instead, IE instantly parks itself minimized on the Windows XP taskbar and cannot be "restored", expanded, viewed, displayed, or anything. If I get an e-mail with an embedded IE link and double click, same thing: IE goes and parks itself on the Windows taskbar immediately and cannot be displayed or otherwise opened. I have visited MS and some IE helpsites, but none of them address this issue. My OE 6.0 works normally so I can receive e-mail ([email protected])Has anybody got any ideas how to revive IE 6.0 to make it display normally? Thanks!JSThanks!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
August 1, 200421 yr It might help to know exactly what 'GF hardware' is and what the 'software' update pertains to.If the IE glitch came to light immediately after the install, chances are the update is the source. If using WinXP, you should be able to restore to a previous point dated _before_ the new update of said software which should get IE up and running again. Then do some research into this upgrade....even though the application based upon the software update "all works great", it appears that there are other implications with the web browser(IE) or your internet connection.
August 1, 200421 yr Author Sorry, OK, GF means GoFlight. They supply hardware for simming. I updated some of their software to instal more switch and pushbutton modules. I spent 2-3 hours fiddling with GF settings last night and then tested it. It all worked. A while after, I clicked on IE to open it up and voila, it just parked on the taskbar. That's when all this started. It seems insane that GF software would wreck IE 6.0 but then again I s'poze this is a PC and anything can happen...!Thanks for posting.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
August 1, 200421 yr Author OK, OK, I need to apologize for this.....I just uninstalled GF stuff, tested, and nada; and then reinstalled it. GF works fine. And then....and then.....I remembered I had undocked IE 6.0 and shifted it to a second monitor that was turned OFF !! Guess what: IE 6.0 still works normally.Man, I feel such a fool.Really sorry for the panic. Can I still post here and not be seen as an idiot?Humbly yours, thanksJS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
