hey, question from a greenhorn... How do I share cockpit, when not using IVAO etc. I'm using FSHost to join up, on the server.

I use Hamachi to create an internal VPN so I can share a cockpit with a friend or fly in formation use the free version.

There is a new open source utility for VPN here the link http://www.wippien.com/download.php

I have used default FSX aircraft but Realairsimulation seems to work other wise for liners you have F1 Fokker100 or the LHS Maddog MD80.

There are tutorial to setup connection just google and you are good to go.
