December 24, 201213 yr Some time ago I created some static aircraft traffic files for FSX. By this, I mean that I added some isolated parking spots to the AFD files for various airfields, and then created simple traffic files that effectively means that the aircraft are static for any times that I am likely to be there. These were all working fine, but recently I have noticed that a handful of aircraft types have "gone missing". The parking spots (and relevant codes) are still there. The aircraft folders are still there. The traffic files (linked to the relevant models) are still there. Nothing has changed, and yet these particular planes are no longer being displayed. Frankly, I do not understand what has happened, but I am hoping that someone here can shed some light on this. December 25, 201213 yr Author Does anyone know of any reasons why static aircraft (either model files, or planes added using the parking spot/traffic file method) would not be visible when they were working previously? Can recently installed addon scenery packages or payware planes cause this problem, but to only a select handful of planes? I really am struggling to understand what has happened, and I could do with some advice. Cheers. December 25, 201213 yr Statics made from MDL files would be controlled by the Scenery Density slider. Or, there could be some type of scenery file higher in the Scenery Library that contains an exclusion and is wiping away scenery objects. Statics by traffic file could be affected by any FS9 traffic type file that's been introduced into FSX. And then there's that aircraft casts shadows thing that pops up every now and then?
December 25, 201213 yr Author You may be happy to know that I have solved the problem with respect to the static aircraft that were being placed using the parking spot/traffic file method. For some reason, even though they are airliners, they seem to be getting treated as GA aircraft by FSX. I had reduced the GA planes to 0% in Settings (for testing purposes), and increasing this to 5% solved the problem! Now I have to work out why those two model files are not being displayed. That is a separate issue.
