August 5, 200421 yr I'd like to start playing Flight Simulator 2004. The only add-ons I'll almost definitely use (in the beginning) is Ultimate Traffic and USA Roads, so take them into account when giving me suggestions...I'm wondering what settings (eg. "High Quality" for Weather, "Medium-High for Clouds", etc, etc) that I should use on my computer to get a decent framerate. Here are my computer specs:Pentium 4 - 2.53 GHz1 GB DDR (PC2700) RAMATI Radeon 9700 ProAside from my normal display, I'd like to use a second monitor for GPS or something... (I'm not sure what yet). So, what resolution and quality settings do you suggest? What should I lock my framerate at? Remember the add-ons I mentioned above in case they will slow down the system by a little. Thanks for any advice!
August 5, 200421 yr Author The first thing you for sure want to do is get Chris Willis' high performance clouds (hifpsv2.zip). As for where to lock your framerate, that is a personal feel kind of thing. You have to decide that for yourself. I personally run at 30 (to do that I need to turn detail down), while others are happy running at 20 or 25 with more detail turned up. My recommendation is leave all the graphics sliders at the default setting and try it out. Then one at a time move any sliders you want around. You can see what the tradeoff is between performance and looks. There is no "perfect setting" for fs2004. The sim runs differently on everyone's hardware, and we all have different preferences as to where we like the sliders set. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
