Engine power loss - please help

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,Something crazy has just started happening after I installed a few excellant aircraft.Fs9 starts normally and I take off from any airport and then in a few minutes, my aircrafts engine loses power. This happens with "add on" aircraft as well as default aircraft (helicopters, jets, piston). If I increase power (F3 or F4) it does increase power but only for a very short time. I tried changing aircraft realism to EASY but this didn't help.I then deleted FS9.cfg and started FS9 so it would make a new clean FS9.cfg. I still have the same problem even with the "clean" FS9.cfg.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What controller are you using? Does it have a throttle control? Are you using auto-throttle? What do you mean by "loses power" - gradual decrease, or sudden cut? What are the symptoms - speed decrease / stall, poor climb rate, etc. Does it seem to occur at a consistent altitude?

Could it be you use to run "Automixture" in the Aircraft Realism settings, but changed that recently to manual control?

Thanks for the quick reply.I'm using a Microsoft Precision Pro controller, but I dont use it's throttle. I always use F1 - F4.I'm not familiar with "auto-throttle" so I'll start up FS 9 when I finish here and check it out. When it loses power it's fairly sudden. If I'm in VC I can see the throttle move. Also, RPM drops and the power loss is felt as speed decreases etc. Altitude doesn't seem to have any affect.

Thanks for your prompt reply.I've always had "Automixture" selected in Aircraft Realism. ALso, I tried setting overall realism to it's easiest level but that didn't help.

You may have 2 joystick devices mapped to the throttle control. Go through the jostick assignments and clear out all throttle assignments for all controllers except the one you are using.

Hi Speed,Thank You....I went to Joystick properties and found I had an old joystick listed but not active. Something crazy must have happened as that old joystick has been listed there for a few years without causing any problems. Anyway, I removed it and then re calibrated my current joystick. Happily, I now have normal throttle control in FS9.Appreciate the suggestion, it saved me from many hours of re installing FS9 and the many addons I've accumulated.
