Options invisible...

Recommended Posts

Hello ,

I don't know if the title explains good but i hope it attracts someone that can help me with this following issue that I have since I'v purchased the game.

I got FSX and acceleration pack as well . the problem is that when I install FSX the options during the flight are all faded away, i can read them no problem, but when I install the Acceleration pack it makes them invisible. Sure i see the windows that appears when i right-click but what it writes , i can't see..same with the options which appear when i press the ALT button ..

Am running on WIn 8 4gb Ram, Ati mobility HD 5000 series with Intel Hd Graphics Intel i5 processor .. not that great but it works fine just that i can't play with the options during flight is that annoys me most of all

And Yes, i did installed and re installed FSX many many times..once it did worked till i added an add-on ..then it got back to how it used to be..since then deleted all add-ons and whatever leftovers remained from FSX when I uninstalled it then.. but no luck since then .

Down here you have a picture of my problem, i think it will help you more figure out what I'm talking about.

Thank you for reading this and I hope that someone will be abel to point me in to a right direction, Sleepner

Hi Sleepner:

This is an odd issue that comes up from time-to-time, but it is "fixable". Here is one such fix, from the FlyTampa forum. Try that one first, and if that didn't do it - here's a longer way:-

Here's the other (more likely) fix:

Go to your Windows/Fonts directory and copy the verdana.fft file (Edit ->Copy) , then paste it into your FSX/Fonts folder. If you can't find it - you can download it from here.

If that doesn't work - get back here and let us know!

All the Best,

Hello,

I tried all the options you mentioned but unfortunately nothing has worked, I'v even tried more options that people had suggested like ( switching from windows to full screen and repeat the process / doing a record for 1 min and play that record afterwards / downloading other fonts that were suggested as missing / changing my display performances from windows / uninstalling Microsoft VIsual C++ Redistributabel ) tried about all I could find on the internet regarding this problem.

I will try tomorrow to uninstall the game , hopefully for the last time ..and delete all I can find about FSX in my PC again...

If you have any other sugestions please share them with me :(

Thank You

Welcome to AVSIM!

Do you experience issues with default aircraft?

I used to experience similar font-rendering issues that seemed to correlate with insufficient memory. For example, when using the PMDG B747 with McPhat Studios high-definition repaints, I would experience frozen 2-D panels, inability to capture screen shots, loss of textures, and missing fonts. Do you experience any of these issues?

Have you tried lowering settings? I'm not sure whether there is indeed a relationship between computer strength and font rendering, but my issue only occurred with the previously mentioned combination of add-ons, and went away after I temporarily stopped using McPhat repaints. I have not experienced it since upgrading to my current computer.

Hi Sleepner. Would you please put your systems specs, proc speed etc., in your settings, so that we can see exactly what hardware you have, then tell us precisely how you went about the "deleting everything" - action by action - all the filenames and locations.

Thanks,

I have Proccesor : Intel i5 2,53 GHz

Ram : 4 GB ( 3,80 GB Usabel )

Windows 8 on 64 bit X64 bassed processor

Video card is : Ati Mobility Radeon 5000 Series

Intel® HD graphics

I have to say that the only video card the game sees is my Intel HD graphics

Don't know if this relates with the problem ..

HDD : Hitachi - 500 GB runing at 7200 rpm

I have a laptop

I have also tried lowering the settings the 1st time I experienced this problem, and did a restart after that but with no results

And the one time it worked without having this problem once I installed a skin for some planes, i belive it was a Cessna , but i can not recall witch one beacose it was one month agoo , it messed with the setting or i don't know what happened and i was back with the fonts as seen in the picture , even after uninstalling the plane the fonts remained as they were

A for how I uninstalled the game, I used Control Panel and I uninstalled it from there . After uninstalling Acceleration 1 and 2 FSX i went to my user in my C : and did a search with fsx it showed me everything that there is with FSX and just simply clicked them and pressed Delete button

After that i went to recycle bin and deleted everything that was sitting in there

Thank you,

Hi Sleepner: Can you put your hardware into your sig so that it shows at the left of the screen under your picture. We need the model of the laptop that you have "laptop" tells us nothing.

You cannot have both gpu's running at the same time - it has to be either the Intel HD Grahics card or the ATI 5000. It is probable that you need the capability of ATI's CCC to fix this.

Can you access the BIOS so that you can disable the Intel card?

This is about everything that there is to know about my Hp Dv7 4109 eg specs and i was wrong about the hard drive it's a 350GB runing at 7.200 rpm

From what I can see also it doesn't even sees my Graphic Card from ATI ...

Allready tried the Bios option but i don't have that option to disable or enable the Graphic Card from there .. and with CCC from Ati all it does it installs a few things then i can't use it anymore it doesn't pops out or if it does it's to install or repair the program ..from what I'v read on other forums about this I'm not the only one with the same HP product that has the same problem

OK - here's one option that you can try, and might work: uninstall Acceleration:, reboot, then download FSX Service Pack 1 and 2 from here in the Avsim Library. Install SP 1, run the sim once (you don't have to fly, just to the spinning aircraft window), then reboot and run the sim, checking to see if the issue is fixed. If it is - then install SP2, and repeat. If it's not - then my only suggestion is to fully remove FSX, cleaning the registry, etc., and then reinstalling, per these instructions.

Anyone else help this fellow aviator?

Will try this one more thing if it's not working i guess i'll just have to go back to windows 7 , not all the drivers of my laptop are supporting windows 8 , and that might just be the problem .

Even if i return to windows 7 I'll still be doing a full format of the Drive since I don't have much to loose except one more hour to download all my programs back and 1 more restart after installing everything

Thank you .
