August 15, 200421 yr Having flown at night I know the blinking beacons on antennaes (cell towers, etc) are not super visible but they are certainly more noticeable than they are in FS9. Anyone know of a mod to make them a bit brighter/bigger? ThanksDavid
August 15, 200421 yr Try either obslightv1.zip here at Avsim or rdotwrl2.zip at Fsim.com and see if it helps.http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...hor=&CatID=rootKurt M
August 15, 200421 yr Ahhh, much better! Thanks Kurt! They still blink kind of fast but I can live with that (not sure if it is possible to change those things)David
August 15, 200421 yr The author for those modified lights posted a corrected version too, that slowed down the rate of blinking - search under the author's name, you should be able to find them.
August 15, 200421 yr David,If you open the fx_obslight.fx in notepad and look for these two sections,[Particle.0]Lifetime=0.10, 0.10[Particle.1]Lifetime=0.10, 0.10you can try changing the Lifetime= to a larger value, such as0.30, 0.30 or higher and see if slows them down.Kurt M
August 16, 200421 yr Does anyone happen to know if strobe-type tower lighting has ever been implemented?I don't really know about the rest of the world, but here in Pennsylvania/New Jersey it's pretty common. I don't think I've ever seen it in FS though.thxAndrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
August 16, 200421 yr Kurt,Do you know how to increase the light intensity of airport rotating beacons? I believe there are two fx_ files for the white and green beacon lights but I have no idea which entries to change. Thanks,Richard
August 17, 200421 yr Richard,I do not know which entry to change exactly, you may have to experiment to find what you want.I'd suggest downloading the Special Effects SDK from MS to get an idea of the different parameters available.http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimul...wnloads_sdk.aspIt might help to also d/l the two different files listed in my post above and compare the new files with the original files to see how they differ. The changes may not be what you are looking for, but may give you a place to start. It might turn out that changing only one value may work or you may have to make a combination of changes.Kurt M
