Can't startup...

Featured Replies

Hello, i just purchased the C90B and i am very impressed with the way it looks visually and the interior of the VC and how interactive it is... just one slight problem...

I moved all the documentation onto my tablet and am sitting at an airport cold and dark getting ready to startup. I run the the first page of the checklist entitled "Before Starting Engines". All good there... next page "Engine Starting (Battery)" is the issue. I turn on the ignition and starter; i know when you hit the starter the ignition flips up automatically. The RIGN light illuminates on the panel. When my N1 hits 12.0% i engage the Condition Lever to 'Low Idle' and then thats it. As i look at the checklist i shoudl be monitoring temperature and oil pressure... well my right oil pressure light on the panel never extinguishes. I can hear the starter clicking and the fuel boost pumps engaging but nothing else.

If anyone has any advice i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi Steve have you installed Service Pack, also I have a cold and dark lua file for C90 to assist with starting procedures one is fast and one is slow, basically you use the slow one through fsuipc first takes about 2 minutes then you can see what needs to be done etc PM me ill email to you tomorrow. Wayne.

Steven, please check the Fuel FW valves. You'll find those on the lower left panel (two red shutoffs). They need to be closed when starting the engines. As long as they are open you'll only hear engines start up an the ticking sound, but the engines will not ignite. Also recheck the position of the condition lever when starting the engine. Try pitchin' them up a little more to see if they aren't calibrated properly. Sorry for my English, but I hope you'll see the point anyway.

Thanks for the replies guys, i assume you mean the FSX service pack? i have acceleration and all that installed. It works with every other add on plane i have. I will see if the C90B has an update to it that i missed. i thought i checked yesterday though. I am going to go back now and check my FW valves. By 'closed' do you mean the guard is lowered and the switch is flipped down? Like i said ima go check. Hope it works out.

No luck with the Fuel FW valves. If i follow the checklist it has those switches up and guarded up. I am attaching 3 picsture that show the warning light panel, the throttle quadrant with some of the guages and the left side panel mixed with the battery switch panel.

What i also noticed though and maybe FSX isnt configured ot handle it, but if i ctrl+E the game cant even automatically start it up. Looks and sounds like its stuck at the same point i am...

Steven PM me ill give you the cold and dark lua file do you have fsuipc registered copy?

So i dug a little deeper and found a related topic... my work around was to startup in another plane, i chose the FXS Beech 58. I had it running then switched to the C90B and shut her down according to the checklist. From there i was able to start her back up according to the checklist... wonder what the underlying issue is though...

C-90B startup is really simple, its pretty much 10 easy steps.....

Cold & Dark.....

1. Master Battery - On

2. GEN1 & GEN 2 - On

3. Prop Pitch - Max

4. Throttle - Beta

5. Condition Levers - 50%

6. Inverter - No.1

7. Rotating Beacon Light - On

8. Prop Sync - On

9. Fuel Pump (Boost Pump) - On (depending upon the engine starting, turn off when engine is completely running)

10. Engine Starter - On (depending upon the engine starting, turn off when when engine is completely running)

*Be sure to push the condition lever of the engine that is starting to 100% once the engine is 50% through the cycle and apply 25% throttle to the same engine to warm it, then set the condition back to 50% and throttle to beta.

There you have it, real King Air pilots use this method all the time, seen it many times, you can also watch youtube videos of real king air pilots doing this.

Steven, glad you made it finally. I always load a standard aircraft (Trike ultralight in my case) and then I load the preferred add-on aircraft via the menu. As far as I remember this is the usual way to prevent any problems with complex aircrafts.

Enjoy!
