Making FSX CFG file and Nvidia Inspector changes

Featured Replies

When does FSX action manual changes (i.e. in a text editor) to the FSX CFG file, and also Nvidia driver configuration changes via Nvidia Inspector? E.g. are CFG file changes loaded into FSX as soon the file is saved or do you have to restart the flight or even the whole sim to see the effect (and similarly with Nvidia Inspector)?

I've always assumed that FSX loads the CFG file internally when you start the sim, and so any manual changes to the file take effect only after re-starting the sim when the file can be reloaded again. With Nvidia Inspector I'd assumed that changes to the driver configuration are executed when you click the "Apply changes" button on the profile page and hence on-the-fly in FSX.

Also, is there a manual for Nvidia Inspector anywhere? I'm using v1.9.6.8.

I'm currently tweeking my setup and wanted to be sure I'm not wasting my time with unnecessary restarts of the sim, or not seeing graphics changes because they needed a sim restart! Thanks in advance for your replies.

Something I forgot to add, the "Load" button on the settings page would suggest that CFG settings can be loaded between flights, but does that include manual edits or just in game changes from the settings menu?

Need to restart FSX each time.

But can't the FSX renderer be reloaded by changing from windowed to non-windowed mode and back again (or vice verse)?
