August 26, 200421 yr In the documenration for the Realair Siai Marchetti SF260 it isrecommended to set P-factor Torque and Gyro to 2/3 to the right.I wonder does this mean the highest realism? Should I consider these settings optimal only for the SF260? What about other planes?Should I set them to 100% right when using other planes in orderto get highest realism?
November 2, 200421 yr ashame nobody replied to you...It's exactly the question I would like to have answered too! :)BUMPLuca
November 2, 200421 yr OK I'll answer. No, and yes if the documentation that ships with the aircraft tells you to.It's a matter of some debate whether FS correctly interprets these effects. And a constant discussion whether flight models effectively take them into account. Most `good` air files will offer some guidance on what the developer reckons will be the best settings, but they will be `best` only for their flight model. Best you can do is take a trial flight in a real aircraft and then you'll know for sure.Allcott
November 3, 200421 yr You don't say whether you are using FS2002 or FS2004 - and there is a difference. In FS2002 the realism settings are a bit hit and miss. Although all are slider controls at least one is either on or off. The downside in FS2002 is that adjusting these settings is a global change - it affects all of your aircraft. In FS2004 you have an advantage in that you can adjust the settings for each aircraft by adding the lines to the aircraft.cfg file. Here's a sample taken from the default Piper Cub:[flight_tuning]p_factor_on_yaw=0.3torque_on_roll=0.3gyro_precession_on_yaw=0.3gyro_precession_on_pitch=0.3I've not seen many other aircraft.cfg files with these values in them but the SF260 in FS2004 does have modified values.boneshttp://fsaviation.nethttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
November 4, 200421 yr OK - I think those settings were part of the original FS2002 setup procedure. My thought is that they may be redundant in FS2004 because of the additional lines in the cfg file - but I am willing to be told otherwise..boneshttp://fsaviation.nethttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
