Diamond DA40 - Lionheart Creations or IRIS?

Featured Replies

Looking at getting a DA40 for flight sim. Apparently there are at least two models available for FS, from LHC and IRIS. Having multiple choices is great, but it does make it harder to decide...

Light on the frame rates, instruments that are readable from the VC and a good flight model are most important for me, but the quality and "feel" of the overall package almost matters.

Owning neither of the two aircraft I can't really judge them, but there I still have some thoughts:

1)The Iris DA40 is older than the LHC one, so the LHC DA40 will probably perform betterm because it's modelling and texturing techniques are likely to be better.

2)The screenshots over at simmarket show (or at least give the impression) that the Lionheart VC is nicer, i.e. higher level of detail

3)My personal opinion: I have the Iris DA42, which appears to be very similar to the DA40 (except for the second prop), and I had a really bad impression of it.(Bad performance - I get more FPS in KSEA with the PMDG MD-11 than in the Iris DA42, modelling not up to today's standards)

But once again, I don't have any DA40, so please don't let comment have too much influence on your decision!

Regards,

Flo

I'm leaning towards the LHC as well. I recently got their Piper Pacer package and I've been very impressed with the quality and frame rate. Especially your comment about the FPS of the Iris DA42 has me concerned. Until I've upgraded my PC, I'm trying to only use FPS-friendly aircraft to free up resources for OrbX scenery.
