August 30, 200421 yr Hello.I think I already know the answer to this but I'm going to ask anyway. Is it possible to have two seperate water textures running at the same time? If possible I would like to use one set for lakes, rivers, etc. and another set for ocean textures. Thanks for any info!
August 30, 200421 yr I think one set of textures would overwrite the other.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 31, 200421 yr Commercial Member Howdy,The appearance of FS water depends on a number of different file groups. One group is called "waterclass", which gives the basic hue or color of the water. Just like landclass replacement files, it can be made for any place of the FS world, using tools like EZ-Landclass, Landclass Assistant, or Ground2K4. There aren't very many local waterclass replacement files out there but my more recent add-ons include them (e.g., to give the glacial lakes in the Canadian Rockies their turquoise color).Actually, the default waterclass file already distinguishes between ocean and inland water; it's just that the default textures are not very exciting. Thus, the other option is to globally substitute the water textures, which some of the replacement files in the library do. I think there was one called "murky water".However, water appearance is also determined by the reflection textures, which is a whole different group of files. Their use, in turn depends on whether you have water reflections active or not. Anyhow, lots of options...Cheers, Holger

The textures that come with the package are very good, but the installer allows for making your own texture compiles. You could take the best of all texture packages available (there are alot of freeware textures here and at other FS sites) and put them all together to make whatever you wish. And if you want to make more compiles, changing from one texture package to another is as easy as a few mouse clicks in the FS Water installer.Cheers,Greg
August 31, 200421 yr Author But once you get done doing all of that you are still using one texture set for water in general. Whatever textures are being used for the lakes are the same textures being used for the ocean, right?I have installed a couple of different texture sets (one at a time) and for now have settled on the 2nd one. But, if I could get the first one that I had to only be used for lakes and the 2nd one to only be used for the ocean it would make things even better.
