September 3, 200421 yr I routinely shutdown un-needed processes when I'm doing FS related activities whether it's flying, trying to figure out GMAX, panels or whatever. As a result, I know exactly what processes are running by default.Out of the blue I've had one show up that didn't use to be there and I haven't installed anything. The new one is something called edict.exe.Anyone know what this is? Where it might have come from?BobL

September 3, 200421 yr Okay,...I give up....How did THAT get on my machine???????I sure as &*#(*Y(*YGF didn't install it....BobLEdit:Wait a minute..an even better ?Since it doesn't show up in the list of programs (Control Panel>Remove Programs..)How do I get rid of it and any little fingers/trails/links etc that it might have created?????
September 3, 200421 yr "I sure as &*#(*Y(*YGF didn't install it...."One of those "drive-by" installs. :-) GregEdir: Looks like we're bouncing edits here, Bob.Go into task manager and see if the little bugger is running. If so, shut it down. Then do a system search for it, and then make it go bye-bye.
September 3, 200421 yr If you have ever had Microsoft Encarta installed that might be the source.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. September 3, 200421 yr Ah-h-h-h, Encarta is installed. But not recently. Curious why it hasn't shown up sooner. Another one to edit out with ms config I guess...Thanks for the help, guys.BobL
