March 8, 201313 yr I have Windows8 ,Firefox I downloaded FSX Gold -Accelerator . Later I decided to download a freeware (c- 17 ). I found the C-17 in a folder, but couldn't find FSX in a folder, instead I found FSX in "my Documents" in three places and it look's like this: My Documents/C:\Users\Jetsmell Sim Objects (185) C:\Users\Jetsmell\App Data\Roaming \ Microsoft FSX FSX ( 8 ) C:\Users\Jetsmell\App Data\Roaming \ Microsoft In each of the three areas it had a number of folders, like scenery, water, different vehicles, some airplanes etc. No one folder that said FSX. Can I add my freeware the way this is set up, Do I download FSX again? My game came with three discs are these reflecting those downloads? Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks
March 8, 201313 yr Welcome to Avsim!Actually, there has to be another folder. The default installation path is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X (or Program Files(x86), if you're using a 64 bit OS). THis folder should contain some folders, e.g. SimObjects, Addon Scenery, Scenery, texture, Gauges etc. What you have to do, but I'm pretty sure that it is explained in the readme file of the download, is place the file that contains the model, texture, sound files as well as the .air (Flight dynamics) and aircraft.cfg in the SimObjects\Airplanes. (I'd recommend to follow the steps provided in the readme closely, because what I just explained to you is based on the guess that this aricraft doesn't come with any custom effects etc, which ould need to be put into the corresponding file of your main FSX folder(by which I mean the Program Files\...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X file).Best regards,Flo Florian
March 8, 201313 yr Author I have done a complete search and could not find a folder for this game. I did locate it in the areas that I described above , but they are not in the folder that you would expect. In those places I could not find textures, aircraft, etc. just the individual aircraft. I might download it again after wiping it clean just to see if that helps. The game is working fine .
March 8, 201313 yr I don't really get your point. What did you search for? Searching for the term "FSX" might not be successful. You should just have to browse to the location I described above in order to locate the correct main folder of FSX. If you did specify a different directory when you installed FSX, you'll find it whereever you told the installer to do so. You could also take a look at the path of the FSX.exe, to which you probably have a desktop shortcut. The location of the FSX.exe is the directory you're probably looking for (and it has to exist, since you wrote that FSX itself is working fine). Flo Florian
