Voice ATIS/Flight Watch on USB only

Featured Replies

I can only hear voice ATIS/Flightwatch when I have my USB connector headphones connected.  I only use my headphones when flying online with other people.  I do like to fly offline a lot, but now I’m not able to hear ATIS/Flightwatch on my desktop Bose Speakers.  The Bose system uses a straight jack, not a USB connector, in the back of my computer.

When I have my headphones on, I can configure my output sounds within FSX, however, the speakers produce sound from the aircraft and the headphones only do the ASE ATIS/Flightwatch.  I guess it’s something within the ASE program that only uses a usb speaker system, is that correct?  That doesn't sound right though.

Any Suggestions on how to get the ATIS to work through the speakers?

Still trying to figure out why.  When I have FSX running, I put FSX in Windows mode, then went to control panel, hardware and sound, clicked sound, to observe the bar to the right of my device for the speakers.  With 122.00 selected on COM1, the bar to right of the device (in the "Sound" window) registers showing that there is sound being broadcast, however, I can't hear the ATIS.  When I click COM1 off, the bar stops registering anything.  However, I still hear all the default FSX sounds, ie, engine, default ai atis, environment, etc., in the speakers....just not the ASE atis/flightwatch.

It must be my onboard sound card does not recognize the Active Sky while running.  However, when starting ASE I hear the ASE thunder sound through my speakers.

Then when I plug in my headphones (USB), I hear everything.....engine, wind, and voice atis/flighwatch.

Strange.....
