September 8, 200421 yr Can anyone recommend a good DASH 8-300 Panel replacement for use with the PSS Dash 8?Thanks!Barry
September 8, 200421 yr It seems to me that the PSS Dash8 panel is quite good already-- but you can also try the Frolov Dash8 which has a better a/c systems implementation and better sounds. The Frolov Dash 8 panel and sounds work completely different to ALL other FS panels and sounds -- and there is some difficulty in merging the PSS a/c with the Frolov panel and sounds but it can be done.Another Barry
September 8, 200421 yr I would also like to get the Fanda Dash 8 panel to work with the PSS Dash, the PSS Dash panel is nice, but I feel that this panel has a little bit of "sytle over substance", looks nice, but mainly just pretty eye candy, where as the Dash has got real system implementation, granted it doesnt look as nice.BUT.....when ever I have tried to merge the Fanda panel to the PSS I get the same problem, the gear wont retract. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?.CheersDan.

September 9, 200421 yr HI Barry and everyone,I really don't like the Auto Pilot on the the PSS version of the DASH 8. Is this how the Dash 8 Panel in real life actually works? Is there any other A/P avionics options for this aircraft.Barry
September 9, 200421 yr I have been trying and trying to use the default AP with the PSS Dash 8 so I can use my Project Magenta glass cockpit with it. Anyone have any success at all doing this?David

Is>there any other A/P avionics options for this aircraft.>>Barry>>As far as I know, the autopilot is one of the more accurate features of the PSS Dash 8. What is the matter with it on your system? It does everything I ask of it on mine, hdg hold, alt hold, alt select, v/s and/or IAS mode for climb/descent, hdg bug/VOR and GPS tracking, it sticks nicely to the g/s and auto-switches between modes just like the real thing.Other than a problem with one single version of FSUIPC causing the vnav modes to be a little fidgety (solved by going back to a previous version or on to the latest) I haven't had a single problem with it. It's not the systems procedural trainer of Fandas, but for general flying it's fine. Just wish I could find some camouflage liveries for the old bird, but it's a bit `old` in FS terms these days. The Dreamfleet ATR 72 shouldn't be far away... and that autopilot will work in the same way as the Dash-8 if its a representation of the real thing.Allcott
September 9, 200421 yr HI Alcott,The ILS doesn't seem to track properly, it tends to porpoise. May not be A/P related. The A/P like many complex aircraft uses non standard FS funtionality. So I can't control the A/P from my GoFlight controls.I have had problems when FS ATC descends me too late and I am still descending when I have to engauge the autopilot APP mode. It doesn't track the Loc and GS at that point. It appears that you need to be at approach altitude first and level prior to switching on APP. I can't get the APP to work in this situation and in clouds where it is actually IFR this is a problem. Thanks!Barry
September 9, 200421 yr If you search on PSS or go have a look at their forum, you'll find a few tips for modifying the PSS Dash-8 to improve the flying characteristics. The tip about the flight tuning and lift should solve the porpoising on approach, but I can't say I have ever noticed it on the standard model - perhaps you have a hardware conflict with the Go Flight modules?I think it might be a nightmare to try and incorporate the standard FS a/p into this aircraft but you could try the aircraft design forum. And the problem with g/s is not a PSS problem, it seems to afflict many aircraft in FS, including the defaults on occasion.Good luck with getting it sorted!Allcott
