September 9, 200421 yr Is this sharp looking Pan Am 727 with winglets (http://www.flypanam.com/) one of the last 727s providing regular service within the U.S.?I think this is one of the best looking airliners around. Plus there is always the sentimental factor of the historical Pan Am.I can only hope that the new Dreamfleet 727 will have a Pan Am winglet version. Has anyone heard any rumors?? :-jumpy
September 9, 200421 yr Here are some nice screen shots from airliners.net: :-coolhttp://www.airliners.net/open.file/031743/L/#http://www.airliners.net/open.file/111980/L/
September 9, 200421 yr As far as I can tell, Dreamfleet has decided not to do the winglet version which I really can't understand since its simply a matter of adding a little piece to the wingtips of the present model. And that would be one way to go one up on Captain Sim.I know that the winglet models have different performance characteristics than the others, but I believe that most people are gonna like the winglet versions simply for its looks (read: beauty).PMDG has modelled the performance differences between its winglet and non winglet NGs, however, having flown both in FS, I haven't notice any significant difference in the way the plane handles or its numbers. But, I love flying the winglet version cause it looks nice and I offer a big thank you to PMDG for doing it.Let's hope that Dreamfleet suprises us and does do a winglet model. If not, then maybe one of the freeware outfits can be covinced to do one and it can be merged with the DF panel. As for
September 9, 200421 yr Hello All,Yes, I too would like to see a model of a Super27 with winglets . . . and I will make a point to post this suggestion on the DF beta forum, however I have NO idea if it will ever be offered.BestClay
September 9, 200421 yr Thanks Anthony and Clay for the info. I would be satisfied if there were no differences in performance characteristics. As long as the basic 727 (non-winglet) model is based on extensive, real pilot feedback, then that would be great.
September 9, 200421 yr Well, not telling any tales out of school, I know of at least three real world 727 pilots in the Beta gang. Myself, Flew mostly 727-100 cargo's but they were fitted with the grass and gravel kits and the large uprated engines.Another who I believe flies the ADV version and lastly, a Super27 pilot who is on 'our' side.It has been posted in the Beta forum, with a couple of 'yeah, that would just be too cool's' added. So, no promises, but it is possible. On actual pilot performance, hmmm, I'll just say it's the closest I've ever come across and getting better by the hour . . . tons of work has gone into this sweetheart.BestClay
September 9, 200421 yr WOW, that's a schweet looking airplane! I have never seen a winglet-equipped 727 before, is that a design from aviation partners, the guys that make the 737 winglets? And that PAN AM paint, mmmm... :9 (But you can't say that their route network is quite as impressive as it once were! :-))rgrds fredrik
September 10, 200421 yr That's great news. I'm really looking forward to it. The 727 was impressed on my brain as a child, when the first plane I flew on was a Eastern Airlines 727. I had to walk out onto the tarmac to board the plane so I had a great view of it. What really caught my eye that day was a bright National Airlines 727 parked next to it. As a result, no one will ever convince me otherwise that the Sun King livery was the coolest ever. ;-)
September 10, 200421 yr Yep, the schedule can't even be called a shell of its former glory. Still, those Boston/Orlando/San Jaun runs look nice!

Still, those Boston/Orlando/San Jaun runs look nice!I used to see them frequently when they were flying the KGYY to Sanford route. They pulled out after barely nine months, claiming there wasn't enough business... ???Now we have Southeast and Hooters providing service, and both are doing very good business, with full a/c in both directions!
