September 11, 200421 yr I've been wanting to fly a P-3 thru one of the recent hurricanes that have hit florida but when i load the jeppesen weather,,,no hurricane ,,i pick a location near the fringe of the hurricane,,or in the hurricane, but don't get anything like what i should. went to Jamaica tonight,,,should be really windy there now,,but got 0 ws @ 180....any enlightenment would be appreciated Many Thanks Gerald
September 11, 200421 yr Sorry, but if the weather station gets blown away, if the instruments end up in the ocean, if the power is eliminated, the station will not report any data. And really it doesn't matter because no planes are going to be taking off or landing anyway, so who is going to use the data?
September 11, 200421 yr you're right,,forgot about the real world being real..... would still like to take-off at the fringe and fly thru one like the noaa huricane hunters do...and look down at the eye wall,,,don't know if that is possible in fs9. Gerald
September 11, 200421 yr See, the problem is that from a single ground station a hurricane is a bunch of strong, gusty winds, a whole lot of rain and a whole lot of clouds. FS can render all of this. but you, and others want to fly above it all and see the hurricane as a whole. Now I guess if the stations were all reporting data and the eye was over a station you might get the general shape. Now, using Active Sky 2004 and Active Radar, users have followed the paths of the Fall hurricanes. This is because the rain patterns show up in Active Radar and the shapes of the rain bands are shown. Even the eye, due to the lack of rain has been visible.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
September 11, 200421 yr now i see,,and understand,,,makes a whole lot of sense,,,i guess i just didn't think it through ,,,will be looking into Active Sky,,thanks a bunch sir Gerald
September 11, 200421 yr Author Where did you get your P3 from? Is it a FS2004 version or a FS2002? I can't seem to find one anywhere.
