April 1, 201313 yr Hi all in the forum Just as it says on Air Crash Investigation, a real world crash is usually of a result of a number of occurrences making the situation worse with time. Well from my point of view the same goes for the virtual world. I just retired my win xp computer to an upstairs room with all my PMDG planes working as best it can on xp. and have invested in an all singing all dancing computer with win 8. I am really fussy about saving my files on the xp machine from drive C to drive D and also to a back up to an external drive. So I was bullet proof, and re installed my 737 package from the back up drive to my new computer. All worked well, but nothing to do with fsx or PMDG computer was sluggish, seizing up, failing to start programs etc. Nothing to lose, formatted the drive and re installed windows and the task of re installing software. I was bullet proof as before, then the trouble started. Tried to install from my back up drive and whoosh... it died on me. all back up files gone, so that was disaster No: 1. no problem I can get the files from the old computer,,,,,wrong, the only files there were the old update files not the base files, I must have over written them as well....disaster No:2. Then remembered I had updated one of the drives on the old xp machine and that drive had my 737's on, so dragged that out of the cupboard, dismantled the xp machine fitted the drive and bingo, my 737 files were there, copied them onto a flash drive, grinning at my success and installed the 738 package no problem...now I am seconds away from flying. enter the activation code.... no problem I have them on a file.....wrong disaster number 3..... activation attempts have been exceeded.......its now 2 am. Poured a large scotch and said some unprintable things like oh gosh what now. Aha PMDG have a extended download service. Went to the site, and read every word regarding the procedure, and it costs $4.95, in the UK that's around what £4, about the price of a pint of best beer. Submitted the ticket, then worried a bit as I thought I should get an auto response e-mail, but that is not the case, so went to bed, thinking this is Easter weekend, so do not expect a response till Tuesday/ Wednesday. wrong again, even with the 5 or so hours difference in time between America and the UK, when I woke up and checked the mails on the mobile phone there was a response. There was my download link and a working activation code. I stumbled downstairs only half awake, and installed them there and then.( with even more back ups) I am back flying now. So I want to publically acknowledge the excellent after sales support that turned my umpteen disasters into a success, all in just a few hours, over a holiday weekend and with a major release pending. Now that is service. Kind regards to the team John Calleja John Calleja
