  1. I haven't got 747 v3. But I saw Virgin 19 documented flight and they did a tour of the cdu. And it was a CDU NAV RAD. I had the older pmdg 747 and it was the same.
  2. Should I role back to a certain P3D. If I remember you can uninstall the client? Do they still have the older version on the site?
  3. I have looked through my updates I have KB4022405, KB4041676. But not KB4038788. Would these patches cause a crash as well? Many thanks.
  4. Thanks, I will check this out. Sorry which recent thread? There are now quite a few. Is there a pined thread on this?
  5. Hi pilots, I am experiencing some crashes. with Prepared3D Version 3.4.22.19868. P3D stops responding randomly. I am using the latest ASN with all latest updates. Using Obex south of England scenery. And I always install the NGX PMDG 737 I have recently installed a new windows system. I am hoping that the info below might hint at a potential problem. I have a feeling ASN might of had a bad install and messed something up, but I can not me sure. Many thanks for any insight you may have. 6. I have got PFPX, it is great from a pre-flight point of view. I wouldn't alway trust it's 'Find Routes' option. They seem to give some strange results. I am finding that I have to get the flight plans from a better source. But overall I like the planning side of PFPX.
  7. Hi thanks for the reply. I have installed Spad next. Home User. To do all this yourself. My goodness it look horrendous! But I managed to borrow some kind clever souls profile. I guess thats how this works. It worked now straight away. I think anyway. Will let you know if I have any issues. Best regards Julian
  8. Hi all. I have been looking for more reliable drivers for my Saitek hardware. Then I came across SPAD Next, which sounds like a more advanced driver. I have been out of the loop a bit with FS generally so this is new to me. I haven't bought the registered version, but it looks like it might work with P3D3.4. And I will probably buy it because the default Saitek are drivers useless. It is annoying because you pay good money for this hardware. Then you have to pay someone else to make it work properly. Are there any pre-made profiles for the specific Saitek device? In my case I have a Saitek Radio Stack, Pro flight yoke and pedals. I saw a video which was infomative but It seemed very aborious having to find every simulator command through Simconnect or FSUIPS (looking at this video). Because of the amount of commands, there is a high risk of setting the wrong thing? It seems like a lot of work to do, and all you really want it to do is make the device work. If you can download a profile from spad themselves this would be very helpful. And I don't mean people giving away their own profiles. I mean a out the box profile that knows what your device is. Obviously the profile can be tweaked after that? Many thanks for the video. I have been using the default Saitek profiles. But it is difficult getting those to work well. Quite often they don't work. Many thanks. Jools
  9. Thank you for for this. I wanted to hear you opinions, as software changes quickly, even in a year! I have been doing a fair bit of research on the best AV software, but interested in opinions. @DaveCT2003 Hello again, I will check your threads. Thank you. Best regards Julian
  10. Hi all. I use P3D3.4 coupled with a few add-ons, and am now looking for a new security software that works well with Windows 10, P3d and addons such as Ezdok. I used ESET and to be fair it is a good virus software, but it is just too strong, and you feel like you might as well lock yourself out of your PC, because it it stops everything working. Even when you try and exclude Ezdok from the realtime scaning it won't remember to do that. I have heard that some of the best AV programs are Bitdefender and Kaspersky for intrusion and URL threats. Both look very good, but do they stop Ezdok or create any problems with P3D? Has anybody used these programs I just mentioned? Best regards Julian
  11. I had this issue, and you are right it is permissions. But you can just save the files elsewhere, and drag the files into the right folders, as a workaround.
  12. Are all the sids/stars files in the right folder?
  13. Have you gone to the CDU and set the PMDGs own sound settings? PMDG SETUP/OPTIONS/SOUND ? You get more options which you can use in combination to P3D settings. It is impossible to hear ATC with the default settings. I find that I have to turn down the ambience down. Are you using AI ATC, or VATSIM, IVAO, out of curiosity? I always wondered what the cockpit and engine noise would really sound like through headphones in the real plane? It would be nice if this was an option in the future.
  14. When I had a look at SimBrief, it looked like you have to pay for the latest AIRAC. So not totally free. What's more, it is Navagrath who supply it. But no big deal being 28 days behind. As the month old FMS data is free. That would suit most people. The AIRAC police aren't going to come knocking on your door.
  15. Is this just a standard ILS approach. One where you have a valid ILS frequency in nav1 and/or 2? That is more important than the LNAV or VNAV path. Unless you mean the R-NAV approach?
  16. Interesting point. I mostly use the current time and current weather, because it adds an element of realism to the flight. Also, you can check real world METARS, which should echo what is happening in the sim. If you fly online, you have to fly conditions, of the network. That is not to say people must do this, but I like the randomness of what the day/night throws at you. This is why a 'flight dispatch' program is important because it helps you look at the whole mission. in context, of the day, you are flying. There are other strange fight sim superstitions such as taking off from the same place you landed at. That is OCD! You could do all this with historical weather I'm sure. Such is the advantage of flight sims. And practice, difficult weather situations. Crosswinds, fog etc.
  17. PFPX sometimes produces unusual flight plans and issues SIDS which you wouldn't normally learn about in real life. But only if you let it find a route for you. It is only as good as the FMS data put into it. You could probably paste a route from simbreif into PFPX and force it to fly a better, more, realistic route. I do this with vRoute and it seems to work. But only if the FMS data is synched up, and I use Navagraphs FMS manager for this. As said before it isn't a flight planner alone. It is a flight dispatcher. It seems to simulate a flight and keep your reserve fuel intact. PFPX has weather prediction. Bear in mind that ASN or VATSIM, IVAO, will have there own weather. I think PFPX weather prediction pretty good, even if I am using other weather programs. You can export it all as a PDF. You can save route straight into the FMC as an rte file or most formats. Or you can save a p3d/fsx file and load that into Active Sky Next, and use the briefing section of active sky, for all the meteorological information regarding a flight. There are a lot of tools which are useful. If anything PFPX is worth having more than TOPCAT, and I remember TOPCAT is now more integrated into pfpx (if you own it). TOPCAT is important, but it is just a T/O and Landing calculator. It is a small part of the bigger picture, in a flight operation. So personally I don't spend too much time on it.
  18. I seemed to miss your reply...not sure why. I think this is probably the reason why the A/P. With this in mind, I could probably re-create the issue. Or better still learn to avoid it in the future. Thanks for you help
  19. Sorry, I didn't see your earlier post. I wasn't sure why the A/P failed on that particular flight, and as Romain said, he doesn't seem to think it was an out off trim issue. As I said earlier, I did another take off from a different route without problems.
  20. Ah, fair play I see what you mean. I'm no wiser then. The problem has happened once before. Most take off are ok, apart from occasionally forgetting VNAV or the A/T. The conditions were thick fog at the time, so I was keen to engage the A/P, early, but I think I was over 1500f MSL. My hand flying was a little heavy handed if I'm honest.
  21. Just to reiterate, I could engage CMD B, but I only realised this at FL130. I didn't attempt to use 'B' on the climb out. It was only later in the flight that I thought to use CMD B. When I use the the PMDG, I tend to use CMD A as the first option. A lot of the tutorials I have seen, tend to use CMD A. It didn't occur to me to use CMD B, on the climb out.
  22. The CMD B was the only AP I could use, later on in the flight. And I did use it for most of the flight. As suggested earlier, it is to do with the 'realistic AP option', I wasn't attempting to use B after take off. So obviously I wasn't in trim enough or just pressed it again at the wrong time. User error. It wasn't a corrupted panel state because I did another flight on the way back. LSZH-EGKK, a relatively smoother take off. However, I did encounter a very strange SID out of LSZH which was the VIBIT 3S. https://postimg.org/image/pux2vw0br/ http://www.vacc.ch/en/airports_and_charts/ And the magenta line loops like this. I couldn't select LNAV on the ground only HDG, so hand flew the loop until established on the R053. Then everything worked well. I aimed the HDG select (which did arm on the ground) in the direction of the intercept course, just to save me time spinning the dial to the noise of the plane. I'm not sure of the correct technique for this SID but it worked for me.
