September 20, 200421 yr Cliff,Not being familiar with FSMeteo, I can't comment as to exactly why this is happening. I would like to suggest, however, that you download a program from the Avsim File Library called FS Autostart authored by Ken Salter. This gem of an application can be manually configured to shut down unneeded services and programs before starting FS (or any other application, by the way) to free up memory for FS to use. One can also configure FS Autostart to wait a certain number of seconds after starting FS before loading a number of user-specified programs that accompany it. Again, I've not tried it with FSMeteo, but it works like a charm for me with other programs and improves performance on my specific rigs (2.53Ghz-512MB-Ti4200w/128 and 1.80Ghz-256MB-32MBRadVE).Hope this helps,Kevin
September 20, 200421 yr Are you sure you need to go through the alt-enter step (full screen to window mode)? For example, when I'm in FS9 at full screen and I need to get to active sky to load weather, I just hit ALT + TAB and go directly to the desktop, where I then load up active sky. After it loads the weather into FS9, I just click on the FS9 icon and I'm back to full screen. I generally try to avod hitting alt-enter because I've noticed that changing to and from full scren mode has caused the simulator to do strange things on my computer in the past.
September 20, 200421 yr I've found that the least problematic way to minimize FS9 on my system (I can't speak for others) is to use CTRL + ALT + DEL. This will also bring up Task Manager, which you will have to close. To restore FS9 to full screen just left click on it in the task bar.David
September 20, 200421 yr Howdy,Wow; that sounds all very complicated. :-) Why not simply hit the Windows key (between the Ctrl and Alt keys) on your keyboard (automatically minimises FS and you're back to desktop)?
September 20, 200421 yr "Why not simply hit the Windows key"Because occasionally this causes me problems, like system crashes, drops in frame rate, controller problems, etc. And it usually happens at the worst time, like when flying on line. CTRL ALT DEL has never given me a problem, but like I said, that's on my system. Your advice is probably the best for most people though.David

September 21, 200421 yr Hi Cliff,I was having a similiar problem as you, only I was trying to go to full screen after opening AS2004. Im not sure about FSMeteo, but Active Sky requires "Render To Texture" to be off. I do have it off, but it still caused the black screen. I received help from Jannier on the Active Sky forum, and it solved my problems. You may want to try this and see if it works.BillHere is the excerpt from the AS forum"This seems to be a render to texture error in FS.when this happens again, ALT+ enter again to switch back to windowed mode, then go to the options page and enable render to texture.Normaly everything will reset and you wil get your screen display back in full screen mode when you then switch.Just remember to go back to option and disable render to tecture again, otherwise it will intefere with AS2004.Hope this helps, works everytime for me. "RegardsJannier
September 21, 200421 yr I thank all of you for being so helpful with your suggestions. As I only need one fix I tried what appeared to me to be the simplest by hitting the Windows key between Control and ALT and it worked with no problem whatsoever.So..............it's the answer to a problem that's bugged me for a long time. Our AVSIM Forum has proved such a boon that I'm surprised that I hadn't asked for advice on this subject long ago. I feel proud to be part of a fellowhood of such helpful fellow enthusiasts.Cliff
